while russia-ukraine dominates the headlines there have been several attacks in Israel over the last two weeks. the latest being yesterday in Tel-Aviv where the assailant pulled a pistol, shot in all directions and was able to escape(it appears they tracked him down and killed him several hours later). a lot of times there are police on the scene and they are able to kill the assailant or apprehend them rather quickly. are Israeli citizens allowed to conceal or open carry? i know bennett recently issued an order that some govt workers were allowed to carry their firearms home with them and he encouraged them to do so. it also appears that netanyahu is back in play https://www.timesofisrael.com/bennetts-coalition-has-lost-its-majority-could-netanyahus-likud-now-regain-power/

I saw that.  On top of everything else it also seems that the Bennet government is on it's way out.  Israel may have to hold elections for a new government yet again.

The Wife and I were in Israel in 2009 and firearms were carried openly and in full view by almost all citizens everywhere. And I was glad or it. I've rarely felt safer anywhere outside my own home. A lot of the attacks are connected to the beginning of Ramadan when there are always a lot of tension and risk for violence associated. What's new and disturbing is the trend for Israeli Arabs to be involved. Usually it's Palestinians who commit most of the attacks.

what parts of Israel did you visit? were guns more prevalent in certain areas such as tourist spots? did a heavy police or military presence mean you saw less people carrying or it didnt matter?

Pretty much all over Cpt. Military Police as well as private citizens. All the staff at the hotel we stayed in Jerusalem were armed with pistols. At the foot of the Temple Mount there was a group having a Bar Mitzvah and the adult escorts were carrying old M-1 Carabines. The mall outside of Jerusalem was full of kids after school and those who were on active duty at the time were carrying their 9 mm's on them and some had the AR-15's as well... boys and girls.  :o  One Check Point we went through coming into Jerusalem was manned entirely by women, or not manned... women-ed perhaps, armed to the teeth too. It was incredible that despite the need for constant vigilance, the people were openly friendly and welcoming, including the Arabs we spoke to.
