Problems in El Salvador have been below my radar. I knew they went through a pretty grim civil war during the Cold War and figured that had to have left a mark. But I hadn't heard anything in the news until now. Apparently it's pretty rough down there.

This article is mostly about the grim state of the prisons down there, but sheds light on the entire problem.
