Anybody with opinions?

The movie trailers avoid showing any kind of UI element, very hard to figure out what the thing is going on about. But it's cheap, so I might pick it up.

It's getting murdered in the steam discussion forum. Apparently, its no better than a cheap mobile app port. And for $12.00, I'm inclined to believe it.

Big disappointment, but coming from Microprose, I can't say I'm shocked.

Reviews have started to drift to "mixed"...  Folks who want a "lite" experience seem to be OK with it. But plenty who really don't like it. I occasionally like "lite" games when I want to give my brain a rest...  I might try it for $11.

Good! Certainly let us know your thoughts.  :notworthy:

Played around with it for about 20 min. It is a "lite" game. Reminds me of an early C-64 game, but with much better graphics. Torpedo just seems to be aim and fire. No real plotting that I can tell. Will be interesting to see how AI escorts work.

Silent Service? Or even earlier than that on the C64?

I guess I was thinking "Gato" by Spectrum Holobyte, and after refreshing my memory with Wikipedia, that game was only on PC (CGA graphics), Apple II and early Macs.

Here is the description of "Gato"

Lordy Lord, I remember seeing Gato ads in Computer Gaming World magazine...

I looked at this game but suspected it would be too lite for me.  I was looking for a good pacific sub sim after spending an 8hour day seeing everything at Pearl Harbor.  The silent service museum at Pearl is often overlooked but really well done, you could spend half a day just there.

You know what I need to delv into is war on the sea, heard it is really good with mods.

Tripoli

IMHO, Silent Hunter IV (with mods) is still the  WWII Pacific submarine "go to" game.  It is surprising that nothing better has been published since it was released.

SH 4 Made me loose 10 lbs. the first week I had it sweating-out depth charge attacks. The German U-Boat DLC was great too.
