So I thought it might be useful for folks to be able to look up whether or not there's a FLGS near anywhere they might be traveling / moving / etc.

It's a bit outdated but does list most of the FLGS's in Texas
http://www.wargames.com/directory/Texas

And if anybody is in the Austin area, my FLGS is:

Great Hall Games
5501 N Lamar Blvd A-135, Austin, TX 78751
(512) 505-0055

I'm there most frequently on Friday evenings.

Interesting.   :)

I tend to just stop in and make an impulse purchase once every month or two.  They have varying game nights (lots of tables I think) but I've not really checked to see if they host any I'd be into at the moment.

The owner told me I should come check out their huge Star Wars X-Wing nights, when I picked up GMT's Space Empires there last year, but I've never been pulled to X-Wing that much.

Now, the problem is, how to divide five Afghans from three mules and have two Englishmen left over.

Well it's not truly "local" to me at this point -- it's a good two-hour drive from where I live right now -- but I still have to mention the Fantasy Flight Games Center

Awesome store. Board games, minis games, historical books, fantasy/sci-fi books, used games...I have spent literally an entire day in this place on at least one occasion.

Houston has a few good places, but up north where I am, there's a couple of good gaming stores:

Fat Ogre Games and Comics
http://fatogregames.com/
525 Sawdust Rd
Spring, TX 77380
(281) 292-8444

I've been to Fat Ogre a few times in the last several years. They have a pretty large store with lots of tables, mostly for minis games but also 'regular' tables for card and other games. They have a good gaming selection, with a wall devoted just to minis, and a few bookcases full of board games. They have lots of graphic novels, comics, and other stuff too.

There's also this place, though I have never been there. I follow them on Facebook though and they seem to be big on board games:

Ettin Games and Hobbies
http://www.ettingames.com/
241 FM 1960 Bypass Rd. East
Humble, TX 77338
832-644-8802

And as for the rest of town, there's plenty of other stores. I'm not sure of their status. Nan has been a staple of the Houston area for decades and is still going strong. He's pretty close to Rice U, which has a big gamer following among the students (they do something called OwlCon every year). I ganked this info from a post on BGG:

Nan's Games & Comics Too
2011 Southwest Fwy
Houston, TX 77098
(713) 520-8700

Midnight Comics
2505 South Highway 6

I just found out that there are 2 new gaming stores locally.  There was nothing but a halfassed Gamehounds and now I have 2 real game shops only 30 minutes away!  Now I know what Indiana Jones felt like when he finally found the Holy Grail.

Board Game Warriors

Small store in New Westminster with good prices and they do a lot to host and promote gaming sessions at their store and other venues.

708 Clarkson St
New Westminster, BC
V3M 1E2 CANADA

Imperial Hobbies
http://www.imperialhobbies.ca/

The groggiest of the stores in the area (and the one with the worst website).  Probably the only one that still actively caters to the old school wargamer.

5451 No. 3 Road
Richmond, BC
V6X 2C7

Starlit Citadel
http://www.starlitcitadel.com/games/

Mainly an online-only mail delivery store but they do host open house gaming days once a month.  Good prices (for Canada) and they have some really well done video reviews of games with a couple of decent looking ladies hosting.

61 West 7th Ave
Vancouver, BC

Magic Stronghold
http://www.magicstronghold.com/

Mainly caters to the card game and RPG crowd but also carries a lot of miniatures.  They are open late and have a tonne of tables available for gamers to use.

Drexoll Games

Not my favourite place.  Kind of a snobby, hipster douche clique vibe to the place but a good selection and others swear by it.
