Ah, so the new Sanctus Reach is coming! -- being in effect Advanced Space Crusade!

Note to self, still have to finish playing Sanctus Reach sometime.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

+1 My thoughts exactly.

I like Sanctus Reach a lot, but I cannot, for the life of me, beat the first mission of the Imperial Guard DLC. I've tried every strategy I can think of...it made me give up on the game long ago.

This game looks good!  Thanks for sharing, I'm keeping my eye on this one.

I wish someone would do WH40K at the scale of Total War.

I'm not familiar with the game engine.  Is it something new, or is this just the 40K handling of the Order of Battle engine?

Isn't Total War: Warhammer what you're looking for?

I have that, but I want a game on that scale set in the 40K universe.

Turn-based Tactics - Check
40K Universe - Check
Great graphics - Check
Two armies - Fail

I'm just hoping the developers finish by adding all of the 40K armies in DLCs. That would be amazing! I would love to play a digital replacement for tabletop 40K. There will never be a replacement for rolling dice but having a proper 40K tabletop game would sure easy the gaming pain significantly.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I agree.  However, I'm sure there will be more armies released through DLC. Look at Gladius, for example. They've added Eldar, Imperial Guard, Tau, Tyranids, etc.

Looks amazing and I got really excited until I saw gameplay. It's not WEGO like their last game Battlestar Deadlock was.
Therefore apart from prettier graphics this is simply every other 40k game.
Not a fan of watching static units take hits. It's silly, boring and it's been done to death in a thousand other 40k games. In my humble opinion at least.
It does not have coop out of the box either. I am struggling to see the point of difference here for this game. Black Labs went from something unique and niche to something that has been done to death.

I know it's just my opinion and the majority will lap it up. But I am very disappointed :(

I played turn based on PC for 40k back in the 90s.

Sanctus Reach is probably a better point of comparison than Gladius, and the only new armies they added to that were Imperial Guard and Chaos Daemons.  It's honestly shocking they never even bothered to add Chaos Space Marines.

But, yeah, I'm in the disappointed camp so far.  This just looks like a reskinned version of Sanctus Reach, which was good, but suffered a lot from a lack of army variety IMO.

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Is it only me that thinks it kinda resemble Epic 40K?

It looks good and i am interested.  Unless it is Pzg style missions.
