Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

At the theater level, perhaps.  But the LRS-D was always under control of a division commander for his specific needs.  Division commanders don't get OPCON over SF teams to send them out on random recon missions.
