Brand new song from the new Chesney Hawkes record is out today. Duet with Nik Kershaw (on a Nik Kershaw song).

Have a very busy weekend but i'll try to do the following:

- One mission in Conflict Desert Storm
- One mission in Stronghold Warlords (new Sun Tzu campaign will be released on the 28th of may so need to speed up).
- Continue my Rome campaign in Aggressors: Ancient Rome.
- Continue my Tachidi campaign in Master of Orion 3.
- Downloading the Alexander DLC for Imperiums in order to start testing it  8)

Have a good weekend.

Continuing on in a Rome: Total War Remastered campaign as the Scipii as well as some Age of Empires Definitive Edition games, and digitally fondling Imperiums: Greek Wars...haven't pulled the trigger there yet.

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes, even if it was for just one day?

I have it on good authority that Gus' shoes are responsible for breaking-up the Swedish Bikini Volleyball Team.  ^-^

   Alexander DLC sounds fun.

I'm drifting into an East Front kind of thing.  I got the John Tiller Stalingrad '42 to prove it.  Working on a scenario where Rotminstrov (who led the 5th Guards Tank Army at Kursk) a few months earlier in his career, takes the 7th Tank Corps for a spin in the 5th Shock Army and has a successful role in stopping both pincers of Wintergewitter.  Maybe I'll get some screenshots if anything spectacular happens.

Iron Harvest - I really do enjoy the whacky units in this game. I kinda hope their will be a movie. The content seems good enough, but the factional nation premise probably makes it too divisive.
Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail - The campaign in this is spectacular! I have now been posted to the Mediterranean with Napoleon reported as having been promoted to artillery officer! I had no idea the campaign would take me anywhere but the coast of the Americas! This game is an absolute blast. I have just captured a L'Ocean 1st rate!
Steel Division 2 - Still need to get used to all the changes and new divisions

Kinda thinking of returning Rome remastered. I am not sure the nostalgia is enough to make this game worth while. I am still dreaming of a rome3 that had ultra hard core realism and nice unit visuals. I have played a few test battles and that is it. In my opinion the rome engine does not look great with modern hardware. You know, shimmering sarrissa at a distance etc

I agree that even with a remastering the visuals of Rome TW Remastered cannot compete with current titles (even Rome 2). That said, the magic is back for me...I am having a ton of fun and have been losing sleep to my Scipii campaign. With mods, Rome TW Remastered will become a reborn classic and I am very much looking forward to playing Barbarian Invasion (one of my favorite games ever) and trying out the Alexander campaign.

Even though I was feeling slightly burned by not being able to get the discount (I found out how to do it too late), I still feel I am getting my money's worth. About 10 days after release and there are currently 125+ mods available.

Can you get a discount if you bought a hard copy of the original game?

Frequently you can activate a game on Steam by entering your hard copy code in the activate game tab.  I don't know if it will work with Rome 1.  You'll have to try it to find out.

Games --> Activate a game on Steam

No it was a cryptic quote of mine for the song by Nik Kershaw.

Cruelty Squad.  The best way I can describe this game is if Deus Ex and EYE: Divine Cybermancy took too much LSD and had a baby with David Cronenberg in the room watching approvingly, this game would be the resultant child.  The story/world is absurd and utterly insane.  It seems to take place in a dystopian cyberpunk-type world where corporations control everything and mete out drugs, cybernetic implants, illegal organs, death, and all sorts of fun dystopian stuff in the name of profits.  You play as a corpo hitman who goes around "liquidating" important assets (i.e. people) for rather absurd reasons, like the CEO of a space exploration company who did too good of a job increasing the survival rate of colonization missions to Mercury, failing to understand that these "colonization" missions are actually "sacrificial" missions meant to sate your bosses' appetites for mass death.  Once you take him out, a new CEO can be installed who better understands the importance of mass-scale human sacrifice.

The gameplay is surprisingly tight for how (intentionally) janky the graphics and aesthetic look.  The colors and polygons are intentionally harsh on the eyes, which actually makes it a bit harder to distinguish enemies from civilians, but at the end of the day I'm not sure you actually get penalized at all for killing civies.  Gameplay wise it is quite similar to the original Deus Ex, though watered down, with a satisfying mix of stealth and action and some fun weapon variants.  I love some of the Cronenbergian bionic implants, like a "skullgun" where you scoop out part of that useless brain matter and replace it with a micro-caliber HE gun that burst-fires out of your face.  Also, "Nightmare Vision Goggles" has to be my favorite video game item in recent memory.

The music is awesome too.  There's also a whole stock market system you can use which I haven't really tried, but you can collect livers and brains from downed enemies and try to sell them when their prices are high (or buy more when they're low  >:D)

EDIT - realized it's Cronenberg I'm thinking of and not Lynch.   ^-^

I'll have to try this.  It sounds a lot like hell let loose.

:2funny:  Yeah, I practically can't tell the two apart!

If anyone's still curious, here's an awesome Steam review that describes Cruelty Squad much better than I could:

Every minute in this game feels like three minutes. I respect this game immensely- it may look like a joke at first, but it simply has no patience for you. No desire to point you in any direction. It's a videogame for people who hate videogames and play videogames too much. It's un-advertisable- even as I sit here, itching to play in its space more, I can't think of exactly how to talk about it. You bunnyhop across familiar American landscapes and gore the plastic simulacrum of decadent upper-class types and their armed-to-the-teeth private security over and over, while the disgusting and discordant, might I even dare to say REALISTIC world around you does its best to remind you that your computer is made of conflict minerals. There's nothing I can say about this game that will accurately represent engaging in it in earnest, though I recommend turning off the music if you don't want to get near instantly filtered. The 640x480 resolution was passed down to us by God. You can set the blood color of the denizens of the world around you- I recommend white, or bile yellow, for full realism.
