I only fiddled with it for about 10 minutes last night, but my initial impression is positive.  It's undeniably pretty close to Gal Civ II visually. The presentation and UI are sleek. It sounds like it still has some way to go before its 'feature complete', but if you liked Gal Civ II and think you'll wind up getting GAL Civ III at some point, $25 seems like a very reasonable price to jump in.

Tempting.....but I wonder if I will have same issue as I have with 4x fantasy games....I want to like them, but just have a hard time getting into them.  Sounds like the combat model did not make it in December's release like it was originally promised, that would have been interesting to see.

Cyrano

I cannot purchase a 4X game that lacks multi-player.

Absolute deal-killer for me.

Y'all have spoiled me for AI.

Best,

Jim

Huge holidays sale discount on the Panzer Corps series at Steam!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/268400

If it gets enough community votes it could be 80% off tomorrow.

Arctic Blast

Oh hai, Ryse...and Chainsaw Warrior...and Rise of Nations Extended Edition...and the new Metal Gear Solid...

Steelgrave

7 Days to Die half-price and only $12.49 right now. It's currently at Alpha 10.4, but even if you buy it and wait for the finished product before ever firing it up, it's a great deal.

Picked up State of Decay and DLC for £7 and FSX Steam Edition for £4 so far

Civ Beyond Earth can wait as can F1 2014. Looking for Rugby Manager 2015 - but that might not be on sale

Not sure how much you want to pay for F1 2014, but over at GMG you can get for $20 with code of WINTER-SALE20-GROGRE

7 Days to Die is worth way more than $12.49. It's like stealing at that price!  :D
"My life is spent in one long effort to escape from the commonplace of existence."
-Sherlock Holmes

"You know, just once I'd like to meet an alien menace that wasn't immune to bullets."
-Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

"There's a horror movie called Alien? That's really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you!"
-The Doctor

"Before Man goes to the stars he should learn how to live on Earth."
-Clifford D. Simak

Staggerwing

How does 7 Days to Die compare to DayZ?
Vituð ér enn - eða hvat?  -Voluspa

Nothing really rocks and nothing really rolls and nothing's ever worth the cost...

"Don't you look at me that way..." -the Abyss

'When searching for a meaningful embrace, sometimes my self respect took second place' -Iggy Pop, Cry for Love

... this will go down on your permanent record... -the Violent Femmes, 'Kiss Off'-

"I'm not just anyone, I'm not just anyone-
I got my time machine, got my 'electronic dream!"
-Sonic Reducer, -Dead Boys

Bought Ryse a few weeks ago for 29.99  >:(

слава Україна!

We can't live under the threat of a c*nt because he's threatening nuclear Armageddon.

-JudgeDredd

Cyrano

Seven Days, among other things -- and I'm basing this entirely on other's reviews -- is well more DONE than DayZ.  It's also a good deal more "mine-crafty" in terms of what it has you doing on a daily basis.

I knew it would be on the sale cheap and Steam did not disappoint me.

Not forgive me while I build a bunker within which to continue pummeling Doug's Dutchmen...

still no Gus at a discount.   :(

not that I need one, I was thinking of the rest of you.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Some things are a great value no matter what the price.
