I recently released a mobile wargame which might be of interest here - Pacific Fire. It is a turn-based strategic-level wargame set in the Pacific Theatre of World War 2.

Pacific Fire currently includes 16 campaigns. 12 of the campaigns cover specific battles or regions, such as the Centrifugal Offensive, Battle of the Coral Sea, and the land war in Burma. The other 4 mega-campaigns cover the whole Pacific Theatre from 1941-1945, putting you in charge of the entire armed forces of either the Allied powers or Empire of Japan and allowing you to play through the war month-by-month. More than 130 types of aircraft and warships are represented in the game, ranging from classics like Wildcats and Zeroes to less well-known types like Chinese-operated I-16s and ML-KNIL P-36 Hawks. My intention was to create a classic PC-style wargaming experience while still making the game accessible enough to play on a mobile device.

Pacific Fire was recently reviewed on Pocket Tactics: https://www.pockettactics.com/reviews/pacific-fire/
You can find the game on the App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pacific-fire/id1490567635
And on Google Play here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Wirraway.PacificFire
It's around US$3.00, depending on your local taxes and currency. The game has no ads or in-app purchases, and never will.

Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback!

This looks very interesting.  Is it playable on a tablet?  My aging eyes simply can't do intricate stuff on a phone size screen.  I have a Nexus 10 that runs Android 5.1.1.

Thanks! Yes, it works well on tablets. It should work on any device running Android 4.1 or newer.

It should work on your Fire HDX. The game is also available from the Amazon Appstore if that is more convenient for Kindle devices - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B081CYFN69
