Old Man's War was good.  I still have a copy.

Redshirts was bad Star Trek fan fiction.  Winning a "hugo" for this showed how irrelevant the award became over time.

Any Star Trek novel that has been written to date, fan fiction or not, is not worthy of (what used to be) a Hugo award.
