At least 500 of the 4-wheel armoured vehicles, built by Tedron Systems Canada, are expected to be delivered between 2014 and 2016.

Thanks for the Wiki link Bison. It looks like the Canadian government is expecting more Afghanistan-like deployments.

There's no reason to assume that based on a single equipment purchase. Governments and militaries always prepare to fight the last war they fought in any event. And given the level of unpreparedness that Canada entered Afghanistan with, one couldn't be surprised by them trying to prevent similar unpreparedness in future. If anyone remembers the rabble-rousing by the press about green CADPAT being used in arid conditions, or the unsuitability of the Iltis for use as as a recce vehicle/convoy escort, etc.

Any time is a good time for pie.

Good to see Textron - they were a key player in the Griffin purchase. Hopefully, this one turns out better.

A use will be found for these. When the Grizzly AVGPs first arrived, the buzz was that these had been chosen over any tracked vehicle because they were so much more useful in the internal security role.

The Textron data sheet says the crew consists of a driver, a gunner, a commander and up to four dismounts. That's half a rifle section. I wonder if an APC version that could carry a whole section is under consideration. And I could see two exit doors on the sides, hopefully there is a third on the rear so you could debus a bit more safely.
