Iranian's New Sub

The Persian gulf has an average depth of only about 35 m with only a few spots deeper than 100m. Just how big a boat do you guys think should go in there?  Just maybe that ugly gaypride boat is an appropriate colour.... just thinking outloud

Thus my tongue-in-cheek comment about being spotted by Catalinas.

The trick there is, we'll hear them before we need to see them. It's great news that the gulf is so shallow. They'll have nowhere to hide when it comes time for us to hunt them down.

Thank God for computer assist in picking up sub noise from all the rest of the background noise... wonder what their submersed time is?

Can't be all that great. Those subs are based on a North Korean design with a reported submerged range of 50nm at 4-8kts.

I'm wondering if they aren't expressing the endurance of those vessels incorrectly. Who cares if it can go 50 nautical miles?

Were I in one I'd be more concerned about life expectancy. Five minutes?

Problem is one of our torps probably costs more than the sub.
