what you might not know was during the inter-war period German artists were the leaders in abstract and cubist art.  design ideas for dazzle schemes were heavily influenced by Bauhaus artists.

FYI the tank picture is a British tank done up in their Berlin scheme.  ;)

Here's an out there thought: could the stripes in the middle be designed to make it look like there were several vessels staggered along one behind the other when seen from extreme range? The lines could look like extra bow and stern profiles in poor visibility situations or at night.

the lines are ment to be sterns as seen by extreme angles.  thats why both ends have bow waves.  but dont mind me, I only wrote a thesis paper on camo in art school.   ;)
