YouTube access

As you probably know, my good friends at Google (deep, deep sarcasm) have decided that it's necessary to log on to your Google account in order to view YouTube videos. I try to avoid Google as much as possible but, some years ago, I did open an account (can't remember why) so I figured, "no problem". Wrong! The final (I hope) step in the log-in process is sending a verification code to my phone. Unfortunately I no longer have access to that phone but I can easily change the phone # after I log-on but I can't log-on without having access to the long gone phone. As far as I can tell, there is no way to set up a help ticket but I can get help from Google's "friendly on-line community" as soon as I log-on to my Google account.

Do any of you have any idea on how I can get around this infinite circle down the drain?

I noticed this recently as well...as well as other annoying things (see below).

A "burner" account is my way around it. I even use a separate browser (Chrome) to keep those pesky cookies separate from my "real" account on Edge.

The other annoying thing that youtube has been doing recently is insisting I turn off my ad blocker. I use Nord VPN that has an integrated ad blocker. I have to pause it now whenever I want to watch youtube videos... 

Along with longer and more frequent ads...I have to admit that youtube is starting to lose its luster for me.

Arizona - good idea, a little convoluted but I'll give it a shot.

JH - thanks for the link. Checked it out and hopefully their gaming section will grow but the potential is there.
