Approaching 0430, 16th April, 1809
As I said in my e-mail to you all, I need morning orders from some of you.
Clock runs soon!
As I posted in the other game, just a minute ago (except with PD as the umpire):
Note that it can be quite important for OTHER PLAYERS, when you're dispatching them courier messages, to know when (in game time) you sent the message forth. Cyrano will tell you when you're receiving it, but unless the player has told you when he sent it then Cyrano might not (perhaps inadvertently) tell you that.
This accounting for the original time of dispatch became very important for players on both sides of the prior game, in different circumstances. For example, even though there wasn't much of a lag relatively, I had to try to piece together dispatches from East Wing, and the East side of Central Thrust (where I was), to try to infer whether a Prussian division (or two) had faked a road march and then gotten off the road once out of sight, perhaps to cross over to another road nearby while it was still near.
I do try to include SENT times in all missives for the very reason that his Chuck-osity states.
For the players, "wake up" messages will be out THIS EVENING. I'll give you a couple days to adjust based on what you see or don't see and then run the clock.
This is seriously exciting...well, for me, anyway...
S!
Us too! :D
It's absolutely lovely over here beyond the west side of the map. Shame the Austrians will never get to see it...
Unlike some people, the Austrians are perfectly happy to stay where we are, enjoying our lives and not ruining others. O:-) :bd: <:-) :smitten:

Wait, didn't you just
invade Bavaria? ;)
"Wake up" orders are out.
The clock will run tomorrow evening.
AWAY WE GO!

Well, y'know, baby steps. Besides, it's Bavaria: invading each other is our foreplay!

...wow, that Doctor Who reference sounded a lot less skeevy in my head before I typed it, sorry. :-[

If that's the worst this thread gets before this game is done, we'll have upheld standards of decorum heretofore unknown at Grogheads!
0630, 16th April, 1809!
0830, 16th April, 1809!
Wait, what roguery is this??!!
Not a typo.
We ride!!
Or nap, as the case may be, and wait for something to happen! :D
1030, 16th April, 1809!
As much as I love the guy -- I've got a figurine of him on my desk at work -- it is NOT my fault you chose to leave Berthier in charge.

You do realise that we all went off to sunnier climbs in Espania don't you?!

You all crack me up...and make me really proud. Seriously, there are times when umpiring these is a real joy.
Given the amount of stuff I just sent out, I'll slow my roll a little bit and get back to moves on Thursday.

If you come over here, we can help you with that! ;D
Oh don't you worry your little heads .... I will be arriving before you know it, and then we'll see just who is feeling more under-the-weather then!

The Grogheads (tm), proudly testing the limits of what can be done in a Kriegsspiel since, well, whenever Dr. Sterrett started running them.
We can haz cheezburgerz?
1430, 16th April, 1809
And no chezburger...
1530, 16th April, 1809
I need tell no one how much I loved the 1806, but it is delightful how much different this scenario is...
Oh...the anticipation!
1630, 16th April, 1809
Still an hour behind my Grog-brother.
We must make haste :).

SURELY we can manage at least one more hour this weekend??!!
Surely?

Still seemed appropriate. >:D
We've got a shot at some solid clock movement here, but I don't want to jump tooooo fast in case someone is sunning them self this weekend.
I will definitely roll clock this evening, though...
1830, 16th April, 1809
I will advance the clock again tomorrow evening.
Three hours until dusk, four until full dark.

Never let it be said you fellows don't make things interesting.
As you may or may not know, Doug and I have both transferred our umpiring to the Table Top Simulator on PC. It's a real delight to work with and has made it possible to "live" track each messenger. I sort of knew this to be the case, but MAN, you guys have put a lot of dudes a-horse...
Weird, I'm subscribed to this thread but haven't got any notifications. Even checked my spam folder. Maybe this post will kick it into gear..
I went through a period of more than a year when the forum engine seemed to pass along notifications at rare random intervals; and sometimes it would then mass-post a bunch of them in catchup. And some never at all. :pullhair:
From my perspective things are doing better this year.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DAAAALEKKKKSSS?!

He started it, actually. I was fairly skeptical about TTS but it's proved to be the best way to do this. I think the Daleks have been sent to the shelter for adoption.
NNNOOOOOO!!! I know what that's code for! -- EXTERMINATION!
2030, 16th April, 1809
I will assuredly miss the Daleks.
That said, realizing how rough-hewn my sender-->recipient calculations were relative to doing them "live" makes it worthwhile.
Videos end up a bit ded secksai too...

I had no problems with the last Kriegspiel but this thread's notifications are patchy at best.
2130, 16th April, 1809
And we have achieved DUSK on the first day.
Full dark in one hour.
2230, 16th April, 1809
And it is now full dark.
We will proceeding quickly to the midnight hour and fatigue calculations!
HUZZAH! <:-) <:-)
2330, 16th April, 1809
And now the hour of fatigue calculation commences.
Messages will, of course, be delivered throughout the evening as appropriate, but please give thought to your morning march orders.
This is ESPECIALLY true for those who arrive on the Field of Honor on the 17th.
Wait, what? There are players who arrive on the map on the 17th?!
WHAT WIZARDRY IS THIS!?
>:D
0030, 17th April, 1809
Fatigue is IN.
Don't want to get cocky, but we may pull off a game day in under a month here...
Dawn is 0430!
A day a month!?! :o
That's way too fast!!! How are we to savour the game at this break neck speed?!? :idiot2:

Someone fetch Aunt Pitty-Pat her fan.
I had forgotten this (in fairness to me it was nearly two years ago), but the first day of the Jena campaign was over in a litte under a week. Thereafter things moved more slowly.
0230, 17th April, 1809
DAWN IN TWO HOURS!
If I've not yet received your 0430 orders, please get them in now.
I will still advance to 0330 for any last minute overnight shenanigans.
S!
Ugh, I keep forgetting dawn is at 4:30 right now.
0330, 17th April, 1809
And what will we see in ONE HOUR??!!
NOTHINNGGGG!

Marshal Oudinot/Lannes, please call your office?
He's dead, Jim? >:D
0530, 17th April, 1809
Some of y'all are HARD on my cognitive faculties.
HARD.
I salute you!
Is something going on somewhere.... I am still in glorious and splendid isolation not knowing diddly about affairs in foreign parts...oh the peace, oh the quiet....now nobody go changing that do ya hear!
Says the guy who invaded Austria.... :P ::)
0630, 17th April, 1809
0730, 17th April, 1809
And now, it's ON.
0830, 17th April, 1809
0930, 17th April, 1809!
1030, 17th April, 1809!
This turn took nearly two hours to resolve in full.
Making a little record for myself, you see.
My slaughter shall make the stars themselves to weep!
...
......
...uh, that could be read more than one way. Never mind. :hide:
1130, 17th April, 1809!
Whew...
Just, whew...
MY WHEW SHALL MAKE THE STARS THEMSELVES TO oh never mind. ::)
1230, 17th April, 1809!
With everything else, I almost forgot to update the clock!!
1330, 17th April, 1809!
The fields of Bavaria now bleed...
They bleed? Hmm. That sounds unpleasant. I wonder if it's too late to turn around and march west...
Ask the short fellow with his hat turned sideways...
He's easy to spot on his white horse.
Yeah but the short fella hasn't even had a chance to go find his white horse, get on it and move anywhere near the field of battle....he is still just drumming his fingers upon his small writing desk thinking that something must be going on, somewhere, to someone.. it's just about knowing who and where and when!
1430, 17th April, 1809!
The KS is always instructive at some level.
Now wondering just how lunatic the Emperor would have been getting in his carriage getting all these dispatches and being unable to do all that much to intervene in events.
1530, 17th April, 1809!
Wheeeeeee!!!
1630, 17th April, 1809!
Many missives are now out.
Check your In boxes!!
1730, 17th April, 1809!
Now that one took some doing.
Good luck out there, commanders!!
1830, 17th April, 1809!
Whisking through day two now!
Hm. I'm going to take that as either good or bad news for us. :bd: <:-) #:-) :hide:
It is absolutely one of those things.
Also, I have now received a dispatch entirely in German.
That is a first...
Made my day, really.
1930, 17th April, 1809!
And nighttime is coming.
2130 is dusk, 2230 full dark.
2030, 17th April, 1809!
And, for the record, it would seem we're driving along at a brisk pace of two days every three months!! Almost. Because the 17th isn't over.
That isn't even necessarily sarcasm! -- although the first few days of the prior game clicked along faster, there was less combat action at the start by proportion, and we ended up going... what was it, ten days in a year and a half?
2130, 17th April, 1809!
And that is DUSK, people.
Full dark in one hour and then a quick push to what will be a BRUTAL run of fatigue calculations...
2230, 17th April, 1809!
And it is DARK!
WHEW!
What a day, indeed.
I will click pretty quickly to midnight fatigue and dawn comes early in these parts!
Note to self, I can't (by which I mean I had better not) wait until 6:00 in this game to get busy... :buck2:
2330, 17th April, 1809!
Next turn is fatigue calculations and SitReps.
This one may take a bit in order to get everybody up to speed!
Think, though, if you haven't sent them already about overnight orders and what you might like to do come dawn!!
I'll wait for my sitrep before considering dawn orders (and news digests).
