I finally finished Spearhead by Adam Makos. Great book overall, but it covered the stories of a lot of individuals and I had trouble keeping track of all of them in the first half of the book. The second half covered the battles for Cologne and Paderborn and it was just absolutely compelling stuff. The end of the book had me in tears. I highly recommend reading this book. It was a nice departure from usual reading which typically pertains to aviation.

My next read will be a biography of General Maurice Rose. He was the commanding general of Spearhead and was the highest ranking officer killed in the ETO. I find him especially interesting because he was also Jewish. I wasn't aware of that.

In any event, some amazing film of a tank duel that took place during the battle of Cologne was captured on film and seeing it after having read the book is really remarkable. Such courage by both American and German soldiers alike.

In the next life, may they all be comrades.
