Title: Super power 3
Post by: Grim.Reaper on September 30, 2022, 06:12:49 PM
Comes out in a week or so....I suspect it won't keep my attention like the prior versions, but always like the potential of these types of games....

Yeah... Both one and two were duds, despite trying to implement some novel concepts and features of the time.

Wow, this has come from nowhere - looking forward to it. No videos of the military side of things though?  Super Power 1 & 2 had detailed unit creators. Hoping that's the same here.

Beyond my past experiences, continue to be skeptical as it did just kind of come from no where and very limited information.  The planned cost is $29.99.  I would love to be wrong about the game so I guess we will see in 7 days.

Looking at the videos and comments, on YouTube it seems a bit odd that all we are seeing are  three close-up screens, no actual gameplay or the military side of the game.

I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic, but I hope it's not a re-skin of SP2. We really need to see more of the game. So far, apart from the character creator thing, there appears to be literally nothing different than Super Power 2.

Looking forward to see what they have done....with tomorrow being the launch day, still might become a purchase depending on what I see today:)

He's shown the military screens and a nuke launch so far and it's looking very good.

Update: the unit designer is like SP1's (which was great) and the map looks great too. It's looking like I'm pulling the trigger day 1.

The biggest problem with the military aspect of the Super Power series was always the logistics and transportation model...there simply was none. All troops could move across oceans and land seamlessly without any limitations. If I recall, they did not even require transports. From my quick look at this video, this does not seem to have changed. In preparing for an invasion of Cuba, He moved over 100,000 assorted troops and vehicles located around the US into Florida in a matter of seconds. This is a huge problem in my opinion.

it is out and getting absolutely clobbered in the reviews. Broken, buggy, hollow, poorly designed.

Disappointing, but color me not surprised in the least.

Well, 6% of the Steam reviewers beg to differ with your opinion..... ;D

A great disappointment. Bugs and certainly hollow. No immersion. I'd say it is a bit of reskin of Superpower 2 as it offers no new features or gameplay. You can control units, but I watched as my fighters went to the spot where an attack helicopter group was to attack it, the group had moved and the fighters stayed there. Forever.  Also watched attack helicopters decimate units and no response from the AI to send out air units to intercept or by the units being attacked to retreat.

Played for an hour. Refunded.

Not surprising for sure...actually giving supreme ruler ultimate a shot, probably I'll be disappointed as well:). Heard new 2030 might be out before the end be of year

Yikes, but not too surprising besides the lack of communication and transparency.  Game never had a chance after it was released as reviews were overwhelmingly negative.  Kind of weird that as of this morning, this news does  not appear in the steam forums, thought by now it would be further on fire.  Maybe just not a lot of people paying attention anymore:)

Behavior like that makes me think I should not do business with that kind of people.
