brilliant!
I received two six-packs of bottled beer for my Secret Santa gift at work.
Harp Premium Lager and Smithwick's. Any opinions on these? I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Smithwick's is good beer.... from what I remember... miles better than Stella :P
I've been drinking Sam Adam's Winter Larger this trip to the Keys. Great beer.

They're both pretty decent. Not my personal favorites, but I'd be very happy to receive them as gifts!
Pick yourself up some Guinness and you can make Half and Halfs.
Never had a Guiness before. This is something I must rectify, working for this company. :)

WHAT IN THE F*CK?!
I've never been much of a drinker. I've been heavily buzzed maybe six times in my life, and only once blackout drunk. And this blackout drunk was on a cruise my wife and I were on this past summer.
Man, and I thought *I* was a teetotaler! That you've never had even one Guinness, not one...it boggles the mind. :o

Calm down, the man lives in Texas for Christ's sake!
If he lived in Ireland (or Massachusetts), it would be a scandal. But Texas? Meh.

Black 'n Tans are a nice alternative as well if you substitute Bass Ale for the Harp.

(You will need an upside down spoon or other way to drizzle in the Guinness so the two beers don't mix.)

you Canadistanian fuckwit. do you have any idea how much beer in consumed by Texas?
I dont but its a hell of a lot Im sure.
It's not so much the amount consumed but the fact that guiness is a religion - you're breast fed it in Ireland so you've always had at least one!
Not a fan of Guiness... my wife is though.
Me, I like a good hoppy IPA.
Or a smooth, creamy Kilkenny.
Or just about anything that isn't a stout.... :P
I'm not a fan of stout either, but I do feel Guinness is one of those beers that everyone should have at least once in their lives. 8)

Ah yes, the usual Starfury nationally bigoted insult off the top. Can't just be a simple fuckwit, can I?
I have never been to Texas, but I can assume, like everywhere else, Texans drink a lot of beer. Cold pale beers, like Coors, Bud & Bud Light (the #1 beer sold in Texas).
But it is my observation that Texas might not have the same beer culture as a state like Massachusetts. Perhaps due to the influence of religion- I really can only speculate.
(https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2Fthumb%2Fb%2Fbc%2FUS_Breweries_Per_One_Million_People_By_State_2012.pdf%2Fpage1-776px-US_Breweries_Per_One_Million_People_By_State_2012.pdf.jpg&hash=3ef5318d0db74165bca833ed037c557777259d3d)
Therefore my point is simply that a Texan never having tasted Guinness is not all that shocking, and that it would be more shocking if a resident of the north eastern US; an area of less religious influence and a higher percentage of Irish descendants, had never tasted Guinness.
(https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Fa%2Fa9%2FIrish1346.gif&hash=050bd4eabfbccaab123eff7742eae20f28d670ad)
Why such an observation would draw a personal & national insult eludes me.
I didnt say they drank good beer just lots and lots of it. ;)

In Star's defense, they DO drink a metric piss-ton of beer in Texas.
Lone Star beer doesnt even come in a normal size can, theyre all tall boys. and where other states usually limit those to 4 packs Lone Star comes in 6 minimum.
Tall boys get limited to 4-packs? Seriously? Not in Maine they don't. We take our drinking very seriously and tend to do it in bulk.
If anyone cares, I just made myself a nice Black&Tan using a Sam Adams Latitude48 ale for a 'bottom'

Still amazed that I live in a recent "Beer City," as I can recall the so called Blue Laws and all that jazz from not so long ago.
Progress, my friends. Progress. We live in a golden age, and are afraid to acknowledge it methinks.

Long before the craft brewery boom elevated beer to gourmet status, it was consumed as a breakfast beverage.
Centuries later, cereal giant General Mills is tapping into the beer market by teaming up with Fulton brewery to create a limited-edition Wheaties ale called HefeWheaties (http://blog.generalmills.com/2015/08/hefewheaties-taps-into-craft-beer-culture/?sf11876885=1).
There are no actual Wheaties cereal bits in the Hefeweizen—a light wheat beer that's often cloudy—but the idea seemed like a natural fit for the two companies to create a brew from their common shared ingredient.

I bought one on a whim whilst picking something else up at Spec's a while ago (the one can was 3.99 but it was larger than a soda can...shows what I know about drinking beer, I can't even tell you the size of the bloody thing). It was pretty good, and I generally don't like beer unless I'm already half in the bag.
I'm still staring at the stuffed squirrels in the last post. ???
We went to a very small micro-brewery in Silva, North Carolina this week. Had the best beer of my life.
It was a nitrogen pour chocolate stout. It tasted like the best chocolate mouse ever, with alcohol. Nitrogen pour is smooth, smooth, smooth. Nitro Chocolate Stout

Hanging out at the local bar tonight with some friends, the idiot employees kept trying to serve me Dos Equis without lime wedges. :o >:( WTF??! Did I miss the memo stating that limes will no longer be served with Mexican beers? Very irritating.
Corona is served with lime because it's completely undrinkable otherwise. Dos Equis is at least drinkable by itself.

I can agree with that statement only partially.
Dos Equis
Amber is perfectly fine by itself. In fact, it's one of my favorite beers, period (although a lime slice improves it even further in my experience).
Regular Dos Equis, however, tastes pretty blah to me. It's like Mexico's equivalent of Budweiser.
I loved all the bar banners during 3/17..."Join us for St Patty's Day...sponsored by Bud Light...the beer of St patty's day"... Uhhhh, no.
If anything Bud light would be the equivalent of the piss from a true Irishman drinking Guinness or Murphy's all night.

Perhaps. However, Corona Light is on par with Busch Light or Bud Light. Undrinkable swill.

You're not wrong. However, I'll admit I have a major fondness/weakness for Dos Equis Amber, which I developed while working at the Mexican restaurant about a decade ago. I discovered that -- for whatever reason -- a 12/24 oz. mug (poured from tap) goes down so smooth and easy that it's almost gone before I even realize it. In all honesty, I could probably drink that stuff with every meal...you know, except for not wanting to become an alcoholic (and other related minor considerations). :P
