Pendragon is a good classic with an interesting system.

Don't think I've ever read the 1st Edition.  Started with 2nd IIRC, but I'm pretty sure the core system is the same throughout.  More options & fluff in later ones I suppose.

I switched over to their newer Federation Commander (http://www.federationcommander.com/) version awhile back.

More streamlined.  Cut out some of the extra guess-tactic rules that didn't add much for the crunch (oh god ECM/ECCM!), reduced the amount of phases, and many other usability/time improvements over SFC.

Don't get me wrong.  I was enthralled with how much was modeled in SFC over the years, and had a good amount of the products.  But damn was that an exceptionally long and overly bulky thing.  I rank the advanced version, with extended empires, up there with other bloated time, rules, and money sinks.   SFC was the ASL of sci-fi ship combat.  :hide:

The new FC cuts down on all that bloat a fair bit, yet still keeps it crunchy enough to retain the flavor.  The components are also a nice improvement.  Marco did a YouTube review on it a year or two ago.

The mechanics are very simple.  I'd liken them to a very simple version of Runequest, but using a d20 roll instead of d100 and with much fewer combat maneuver options.  Probably even more simple in 1st Edition, but I haven't yet compared to later stuff.  There is likely a lot more content in my 3rd (or 4th?) edition than the original, but I think I've read others mention that the core mechanics are mostly the same.

One of the things that set Pendragon apart from other RPGs, aside from being dedicated to playing knights based on Thomas Malory's version of mythical Arthurian Britain, was the long-term campaign.  Not only did it have separate undertakings based on season, namely Wintering, but it also featured generational play.  In other words, if your character died you could continue onward by rolling up one of their children and passing along some traits/bonuses from father to son.  Character aging, and it's effects on stats, virtues/flaws, etc is in slow and somewhat random flux over the years and is more important than many RPGs due to this generational thing.

Of course, the hereditary stuff wasn't the only feudal nobility things to be involved with (and aside from adventuring/questing).  When you made the first character of a new family, you'd also roll up their status, holdings, liege, number of familial knights and soldiers you could call to battle, etc.  So in addition to appropriate questing of the regular adventure types we're all familiar with in RPGs, it also promoted dynastic roleplay.  Like a tabletop RPG with the mechanical seeds for CK-like dynastic struggles & intrigue the GM and players may have wanted to dip into.

Another thing that set it apart back then was it's character Virtue/Vice system.  There is a list of polar opposite Virtues & Vices, paired sets.  ex. Brave->Cowardly, Contemplative->Boisterous, Modest->Braggart; I don't recall specifics but things of that nature.  If one side is rated '14' then the other is '6'.

They're listed and valued much like the skills are (1-20+).  They're rolled/chosen during character creation and can change over the course of play, depending on how they're un/successfully used.  They're also tested like skills and can be invoked for extra bonuses, rewards, or whatever the GM wants to use them for.  You can also become a paragon of your selected faith, gaining permanent bonuses while the specific virtues & vices of that religion are kept at certain minimums.  Christian and Pagan knights have different favored ones.

Therefore the Virtue & Vice system can be used as mechanical motivation to try & be that ideal Christian or Pagan exemplar, making hard choices between making an convenient decision to take the 'easy route' or upholding your proclaimed virtuous ideals.  Or just see how those things turn out via your in-character decisions over time.  The GM can, and should, also use it to test characters, and to create tough decisions via situations that can affect them.

I've since seen some later RPGs utilize some of these ideas.  More recently I've seen the Star Wars Force & Destiny rpg has a simpler, more loose interpretation of the Virtue-Vice system.  Quite a few have had some kind of mechanics regarding personality traits & such over the years and I don't recall any of them doing so before Pendragon.  The One Ring rpg has some seasonal mechanics, and most notably the Winter Phase.  It has obviously inspired some of those people currently creating RPGs.    8)

Figured you'd jump at that since it's your favorite system.

I probably would have, but already picked up a used copy of the core Hunters book, along with the Witch Finders splat.  Instead of dropping money on half of what I already own, figured I'd just put it towards getting a hard copy of one of the other two large supplements, or something similar for a different RPG (as my fancy has it).

Still curious about the Ghost Finder (?) one, but I think the latest CoD core book I picked up already has some of that content in it.  Interesting ghost/monster abilities, and their accompanying requirements, for sure.

because I play solo, reading the books is very slow, but having them allows me to plan it, and I think I'm in the mood for this, I may settle down for a week and get through these.

I like hard copies, but I'm finding digital just allows you to take snippets of the rules and place them in a notepad for quick reference, I suppose the hardcopy allows quick refe too,

I have the core books but I find it hard to buy addons, but this deal has given me the source to develop a game,

Nef there is no way I would of seen this without you posting, It sends a shiver down my spine to think I could of missed it.

The only reason I'd want PDFs is to print off select bits.  Like tables or other such things.

Feel like I can look up stuff more quickly with a large physical book.  Partly because it's large & easy to flip through.  But also because I tend to remember approximately where things are located in an actual physical book.  And often just by the way the specific page layout looks from when I read through it before.

But I do like being able to print certain oft-used sections for easier reference.  Just wish the PDFs were cheaper when you buy the physical copy.  They often cost about 2/3rds what a physical book costs, even if you pick up the latter at the same time.  ::)

Not all supplements are equal, that's for sure.

Those in some lines can provide a lot more options and/or save you more time creating, with enough extra content.  Whether the price-to-content value is good can be a tricky thing to figure out before a purchase, however, especially since "splatbooks" often aren't cheap for their size.

Says the "Bonus Collection", which includes that one, is currently at $18.82 minimum.

So... $19 for all of them.  Not a bad haul on $84 retail price worth of AFF.  I tend to think many RPG pdfs are over-priced, at their regular price point, so keep an eye on these bundle sales.

This is a great Dark Fantasy RPG that's pretty light on rules, but has a lot of player customization flexibility.  Has some similarities with D&D, along with influences from others (notably Warhammer Fantasy RPG).

It uses a simple D20 roll, with positive/negative modifiers distilled into dice pool style +/-1D6 (take highest if more than one).  Simple mix of a D20 dice mechanic, but with the benefit of minimizing the "modifier hell" many of those systems have.

The really great thing about SotDL is the character options.

It's obviously taken some inspiration from the old WFRP style multi-classing, and made some new twists.  You start out as one of four basic classes, called Paths, which are Magician, Priest, Rogue, and Warrior.  But after reaching level two, you choose an "Expert Path", of which there are a good number (examples: Artificer, Assassin, Berserker, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Thief, Warlock, Wizard, etc).

Later, on level-up, "Master Paths" will open to you.  Ex: Abjurer, Aeromancer, Acrobat, Avenger, Conqueror, Dervish, Duelist, Engineer, Exorcist, Gladiator, Inquisitor, Magus, Savant, Shapeshifter, Stormbringer, Templar, Zealot, and many others..

Each is pretty much it's own class, and you continue to gain a choice of exclusive benefits for each one you choose in future level-ups.  The number of possible special ability mixes is quite large, but it's still more structured, due to being divided up into Paths, than choosing them individually.

You can add new Paths as you level, so it's like mixing & matching numerous different little classes more often.  Instead of being restricted to a couple-three that may not even blend too well.  You can continue to specialize, and get stronger in, a certain Master Path or branch out into others, being more of a generalist or mix of specialities.

Another thing I greatly appreciated:  No XP to track!   And good riddance.  Everyone simply levels-up after an adventure is completed, or when the GM deems a campaign milestone as appropriate to do so (GM decision).  Less boring accounting work, and we lose nothing in it's absence.

Lastly, some of the races in the Core book are a bit unusual.  Along with Humans, there are options for playing as Changelings, Clockwork, Dwarves, Goblins, and Orcs.  Expansion books add more (Elf, Revenant, etc).  Keep in mind that the fae aren't the Tinkerball or Tolkien types, but more old school style; the kind that steal children, enslave peoples' minds with trickery, or dip their hats in people's blood for sustenance.  Hence the playable fae outcasts are character options - changelings and goblins.

I've seen the theme likened to that of the Dragon Age RPG.  Although I think the provided creatures & baddies in SotDL are more numerous, more varied, and generally more interesting on an individual level.  Yet the monsters' stat blocks are pretty trim, and look easy to run without much crunch to sort through on the fly.  8)

*Nef recommends Shadow of the Demon Lord.  Even for those of a singular D&D Murder Hobo mindset, because it is that too. :bd:

The hardback Core book is also not terribly expensive, if you ever decide to get analog with it.  Think I paid about $36 for mine iirc.

Those are some sweet deals.  I have everything in hard cover.  I wish you could do print on demand for the gazetteers, because I'd get those in a heartbeat.  I have a couple, but the other paper copies I've found have been ridiculously overpriced.

I had the originals, barely read, of all of the Known Worlds.  I sold them 15 years ago for a ton of money.  I'm glad I did that before this deal came out.

If I get to run a regular D&D campaign when I retire, I'm going to use the Judges Guild world.

I looked at the site but I didn't see how down load by paper sheet size for printing.  I'll most likely use them as background materials for the campaigns I run for the kids.  We are starting up a Castles and Crusaders rule set game.

Looks like he's liquidating similar stuff as I did, a few months back.

Namely the old MERP stuff from ICE.    Off-loaded some Second Edition.  But for some reason I couldn't find that amazing old Dol Guldur sourcebook to sell with it.  Still a somewhat popular splatbook from what I understand.  Maybe it'll show up next time I move.

You can only find 'em when you're looking for other stuff. :tickedoff:

Wiggy writes some great RPG content.

Really enjoyed reading the Leagues of Gothic Horror book.

Picked up a few All For One books earlier this year, but haven't got around to consuming them yet.   It's core book, along with the Hellfrost: Land of Fire one, has already been heavily discounted on the TAG site for awhile.

I should probably grab some more Hellfrost & Gothic Horror stuff while this sale is running but my reading is backed up to no end.  May still get the LoGH Companion though.

Rifts: Ultimate Edition Bundle

at Bundle Of Holding (DriveThruRPG bundles)

https://bundleofholding.com/presents/Rifts

Been so long since I owned Rifts (the original when it came out), I don't recall the system anymore.  Or Palladium, for that matter.  Another D&D influenced one, IIRC.   I do remember Rifts had just about every awesome trope crammed into the theme, however.  More so than Shadowrun, even.  Which made it interesting.   :coolsmiley:

There was a Savage Worlds version done on KS not long ago.  I might prefer that one over the old stuff, but can only imagine how much the SW set costs.

that's the system that the reboot of Shotguns & Sorcery uses, too.

The Cypher system is about as minimalist as it gets.  Yet still finds reason to dish out shinies, all the time, for loot whores.   :D

The odd Numenera setting, along with it's interesting character/advancement power options, is the big strength of that one IMO.  I browsed the system-neutral Cypher core book, but wasn't nearly as impressed since all the cool crazy sci-fantasy stuff was pulled out and replaced with more common genre trappings.  I don't think the previous one, The Strange, has nearly as much draw either.

I hope the Shotguns & Sorcery version gets a lot of stylistic flavoring like Numenera.  The system really depends on it.

The character creation kinda reminds me a bit of the Apocalypse World system.  In that each archetype/class has a few categories, each populated with multiple unique special abilities, traits, etc, which the player is prompted to choose from.  Although it doesn't push them to explain their characters' interrelated backstories like AW - something which is ideal to get past the awkward "strangers in a tavern" type of intro that should be avoided like the plague.  But that's easy enough for the GM to get rolling anyway.

I'd say the Cypher system is probably one of the best candidates for quick Play-By-Post forum RPG'ing, or quick sessions in general.  Hell.. only the players roll the dice (a single d20), and that single die roll does it all, including damage on combat rolls.  Monsters each have a level # which is also the number needed on a roll to overcome it in any way, although that is sometimes situationally adjusted by their few specials.  I'd feel the mechanics to be too thin if not for the heavy amount of single-use cyphers meant to be found so often, and the cool Character Ability Soup on offer.

All of the Auchtung Cthulhu titles are 70% off RPGnow.

Of course, this was AFTER I bought the keepers and players guides.

Most Grogs understand WW2 times and information well.  For that reason, I don't think the Players Guide is of much use to us as a group.  Keepers guide is necessary, but not the players guide.

I bought $22 of source books and scenarios this week.

Yes, but I think that Grogs can take the players sheet pdf (free on the web) and go with that if they are familiar with the Call of Cthulhu system.  But on this sale the Players Manual is less than $5.

MYZ obviously took some inspiration from the 'Powered by the Apocalypse' engine, and expanded up on it.

Expanded on the style with some good things.  Such as a dice pool mechanic, an inventory/weight, and damage systems.  Yet it still keeps them all pretty light.

Very sandbox, with tables & options for getting up and running relatively quickly.  It's not really a "gonzo" style of post-apoc RPG.  About on par with Fallout for weirdness.

I'd say it's closest, in campaign style and crunch, to Blades in the Dark.  With different themes, of course.

Somebody here said they picked it up awhile back.

Didn't hear much about it.  I'm a bit intrigued after seeing it uses the PbtA system.  The few others I have, which use PbtA, are surprisingly interesting for as light as the rules are.  Lotsa theme built into them.

Also kinda reminds me of the over-the-top action movie stuff in the Feng Shui 2 RPG.  Very mashed-up action movie thing.  Which looks like it would be a great vehicle for a Big Trouble In Little China style campaign, too.

I think I made mention of having it and it probably can be as gonzo fun as described. Sad to say I've never played.

Fun fact: If an RPG excites my neurons, I nearly immediately start cranking on ideas after just reading the "game fiction," section (now actually running anything is another story). "Adventure!" "Star Trek," (LUG version specifically regarding Federation Merchant Marine info), and "Spirit of '77," did this for me - even went and bought "Bedlam Hall," from the same folks with the same results.

It uses GDW's late-era "house," rpg system of the time, so it's loads more complex than the Classic & the Mongoose versions (and I'm guessing the Mongoose version wasn't too far removed from Classic).  Of the books that are offered up in the bundle, I'm fond and familiar of the "Vampire Fleets," book only as it details the rouge AI warships that are kicking about the spacelanes making a shitty situation even more shittier for the surviving humans of the Imperium. Shades of the Berserker series from Saberhagen can be seen here and that tickles me pink.

Otherwise, I was on my way out from GDW at this point and I wasn't going to drop more dimes on a system or line that once again seemed to want to reinvent the wheel...again.

RPG Now is having a sale on Kent David Kelly materials - most are $0.99.

I bought 3 things and am very pleased.  City State Encounters (276 pages of suggested city encounters).
The classic dungeon design guide (398 pages of dungeon design and adventure suggestions).
Castle Oldskull Neconomicon - Call of Cthulhu type ideas, although it seems to be passages from imaginary books.

I paid a grand total of $2.97 for all three.

I like things which spark my own ideas, and these things are (on a very quick scan) very good.

Always been a bit interested, but I gather the new edition is on the thin side for both crunch & fluff.

I dig the core of his system, but I already have somewhat related L5R 4th edition with it's "roll & keep" thing (and more fluff it seems).  Easier to justify pushing 7th Sea way down my wishlist in favor of others.

The reviews of the WOIN system gives me the impression that it generally has good stuff going for it, for a fairly light system, but a few specific areas in which it lacks.  People seem to like it, but with some niggle.  I'm not familiar with it to verify, however.

:bd:

All I know is that they're on the lighter side of crunch, and that it doesn't come with a setting but, instead, some options for DIY.   Also a dice pool (yay) so presumably much less +/- DRMs to keep track of.

Think a review mentioned the damage system being a bit too thin.  Maybe it has a 1 roll = Hit and Damage in one go?  Can't recall.

Sounded like it could make for a quicker way to plug your own homebrew setting into.  *shrug*

It's a really good, clean system. Quite easy to run.

I am seriously tempted by those Deadlands bundles...if you pony up for the bonus content, that's a ridiculous amount of stuff. And I would LOVE to run a campaign in that setting again...someday...

I've played Savage Worlds several times at MACE conventions.  Deadlands, East Texas State University, and the like are all very strange worlds.  The dice system is simple, but interesting.  The people who own Savage Worlds (or at least part of it) are from North Carolina.

Pretty sure they all come linked together.

Using the same email login, it adds them, as a bundle, to your DriveThruRPG account (and those other similar looking sites owned by the same co).

Mythras (i.e. Runequest 6) is now on Bundle of Holding

https://bundleofholding.com/presents/Mythras

It's too bad the RQ6 accessory Monster Island isn't included in the two options.  It's an interesting locale sourcebook.

Although still using the same RQ6 system, apparently the publisher had to rename the newer releases as "Mythras" instead of "Runequest".  The previous sourcebooks, such as Monster Island and Shores Of Korantia were published under the RQ6 name.   IP boosheet.  :-\

I know a bunch of non-designer types who have used it and swear by it.  They're reasonably computer-savvy, but not designers/artists.  The main reason a lot of pros don't use CC is b/c the maps all start to look alike, which for pro purposes is a product-killer.  But for hobbyists or homebrew designers, or folks who want to flesh it all out before handing off to a designer for publication, it's a great tool

I have Worldographer (Hexographer2), Fractal Mapper 8.0, and various gameleaper map makers. Not sure this adds anything new but it does look kind of interesting. It looks more like a painting program, though. I don't see a lot of square or hex maps. Also, it looks like it's meant only for fantasy games.

Not sure if this link (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?products_id=235428&discount=97efadca9f) still has a valid redemption code, but you can get the Zweihander All-In-One Card Set pdf for free right now for Free RPG Day.   :coolsmiley:

Despite my complaints about core d100 systems, I've been impressed with how thorough the Zweihander (Warhammer Fantasy derivative) core book is.  The tarot-sized spell/monster cards look cool; may pick up physical copies at some point if I don't go cheap and print out my own with this freebie.

I think some of you got the Zweihander pdf, itself, sometime last year when I posted the daily discount link.  I ended up buying the massive PoD hardback later on.

^ That was a good review.  You should have put that in an article.

I disagree with your opinion about the opponents chapter.  DCC/MCC works on a great deal of mystery to the players compared to D&D.  GMs are strongly encouraged to make up their own monsters to keep the mystery of the game going for the players.  Having a thin set of monsters along with suggestions fits with what they are trying to do.

There's a ton of reviews on the web that are worth looking at to describe the game and mechanics (this one's pretty good (https://faustusnotes.wordpress.com/2017/12/12/mutant-year-zero-fast-paced-post-apocalyptic-brilliance/)). For me, I like that this isn't yet another gonzo post apocalyptic game. I like the grim, more realistic setting. There is a built in campaign framework (the Ark) that you can use (if you want to). You are trying to build up/protect the Ark in addition to whatever else is going on in the game. I also think the books are beautifully done. I own hardback copies of the core rules, Genlab Alpha, and Mechatron. But that's also my biggest complaint. You have to buy several books to get everything. Mutant animal types? Buy Genlab Alpha. You want robots? Buy Mechatron. Pure strain humans? They are coming in the yet to be released Elysium. If you can be happy with just the PDFs you won't have that issue, though.

is that so that people can just play the subset of hte game they want to play?  or was is just a dressed-up cash grab?

It's probably a little of both. In fairness, you can play using just Genlab Alpha or Mechatron as they are stand alone. But if you are like me and like manimals and robots in your setting then you need them all.

Mutant crawl classics wants "mystery" to be preserved which is a good goal.  But MCC incorporates a lot of randomness which can hit gonzo level quickly.

I glanced at MCC, but there's another 3rd party one based off DCC called Umerican Survival Guide which has a setting that seems a bit more interesting to me and possibly a bit more filled out.  The core MCC book appeared rather light on content to me. *shrug*

Then again, I already have some The Mutant Epoch for a bigyuge dose of post-apoc gonzo.   :crazy2:  \m/

Humble Bundle's got the Cubicle 7 version of The Lord of the Rings RPG on sale right now.  I played the old ICE version and enjoyed it.  Don't know anything about the Cubicle 7 version but I might spend a dollah and get the rulebook for skimming.

The One Ring RPG is it's own thing, and much of the mechanics were made to fit the themes of Tolkien's writing better than the shoehorning of the old Rolemaster system into the old MERP editions (I sold my MERP 2e stuff not long ago).

TOR is an interesting read for it's different approach.  There is a mechanical niggle or two but there are a bunch of modular player hacks floating around in compilations.  I have a few hardbacks which are gorgeous.

I definitely recommend checking it out.  I mean.. the Core book and a couple others are $1.   :o

GDW's old 2300AD just went on sale at Bundle Of Holding.

I thought the 2E version was pretty cool back in the day.  Despite being a bit thin on content.  The near-future scifi setting, with some modern nations still at odds after extra-solar colonization, is great and a nice change from the usual space operas and sci-fantasies.  Pretty sure it was a future extension of GDW's Twilight: 2000 world.

Almost tempted to pick up the whole package but I've been waiting on Mongoose to release a new version of the setting for their latest Traveller 2e.  Dunno if that's a guarantee but I saw something about it being in the works.

I bought 2300AD and ran a campaign back in the day.  Never really caught on with the group though.  We all liked the setting but felt that the main antagonist aliens were just not very interesting and I was too lazy as a GM to come up with an alternative.  I can't remember all the details but the one that stuck us all as the problem was that they were designed to function as moronic cannon fodder until a certain level of threat was reached and then their dormant higher brains would kick in and they'd act intelligently.  Never figured out how they'd evolved to develop an industrial society with such constraints.

The Kafer were definitely a weak link.  Probably should've tossed some of their lore and inserted your own to make them less cannon fodder & more crafty.

d100 System Sale at DTRPG

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/rpg_systemsale.php

Despite my past complaints about d100 RPG systems, there is no denying some of the great settings to be had.  Hell, I continue to pick up more of them (Zweihander, Call Of Cthulhu, Delta Green, and considering the new upcoming Glorantha-Runequest goodies).

Thought I was bad.  Brant takes the gold.   O0

Most of my oldies, the 20+ year old stuff, is long gone.  Given or traded off.  Only have a very small few left hanging around such as WFRP 1e, Shadowrun 2e, and an old rando copy of Chivalry & Sorcery 3e(?).   And some later Star Wars d20 2e I've wanted to dump for awhile but forget about.

I think authors have figured out how to build better mousetraps over the years.  Just have the few left mostly for sentimental reasons, I suppose.   :-"

I have fully admitted my pack-rat-ness :)

To be fair, a bunch of those are sort of one-shot kind of games, like ones that were complete games, but in magazines (Where Fools Dare to Tread, Battle Born, Arabian Sea Tales, etc), and there's a bunch for which almost no follow-on products ever materialized (Swordbearer, Forbidden Kingdoms, Sovereign Stone).

But there's also a lot of under-rated gems in there, like Duel, TWERPS, Spycraft, and Crimson Cutlass.
Oh, and World of Esæne ;D

- Like a mix of some light D&D/d20 rules with the career-hopping mish mash customization of Warhammer Fantasy, along with a similar dark fantasy theme of the latter.

Fortunately I had previously picked up one of their green glow-in-the-dark sets awhile back before they sold out.  They appear to have problems keeping a variety in stock.  I just happened to go scouring at the right time after picking up DCC.

Chaosium Sale is Announced - but may not be active yet.

Black Friday is followed by Cyber Monday at Chaosium.com (with Squamous Saturday and Spectral Sunday in between)...
33% off selected classic digital titles including ebook fiction - use code 'BLACKFRI33'
50% off items in the Call of Cthulhu Vault and HeroQuest and Glorantha Vault - use code 'VAULT50'.
Note: these codes cannot be combined with any other coupons. Sale ends 11.59pm PT, 26 November 2018.

Warning - they really mean the codes cannot be combined.  If you get stuff from the vault, check out with that discount.  If you get stuff from other areas, checkout with that stuff only and nothing from the vault.
Title: Re: RPG Sales & Discounts

I picked up 3 things from Chaosium from their monograph series in The Vault.  It cost me a total of $6.23.  First it was 50% off.  Second, I had $6 of store credit from running Call of Cthulhu at two different MACE events.

I then picked up about $23 from drivethroughRPG - Three call of Cthulhu things and Umerican Survival Guide - That totaled $28.

So my damage on RPG sales totaled:

Goodman Games = $97
Chaosium = $6.23
Drive Through RPG = $28
= $131.23

And that is probably all I'll spend on RPG stuff for the rest of the year.  I have scores of things to read already.

The 50% off is for the older items that were not "official long scenarios" like Yog-Sothoth or Masks of Nylarahotep.  There are about 4 pages of stuff in the vault.

For most of the other items, I found drivethroughrpg to have better prices.

Amusingly, I've been on a Traveller kick - or more precisely, the OSR version of Traveller which is something I didn't know existed until last week.

So, to wit, I've picked up a few items using the "Cepheus," engine (i.e. classic Traveller with some tweaks and as free from an attached milieu as a game could have).  And, to boot, there are quite a few stand alone games/setting fluffery thingies out there that are looking mighty good too.

Probably my favorite of the old school RPGS. We dropped D&D for Chivalry and Sorcery, but dropped C&S in a flash once we found Runequest. We would dabble in other systems here and there but RQ was a mainstay.

The new Runequest Glorantha slipcase set is rumored to be hitting stores sometime in the next week.  The dead tree Core book was released last year, IIRC, but it seemed to fly off the shelves.  Now the big Bestiary & extras are showing up, probably with more Core books being printed with this 2nd wave.

The core book looked gorgeous.  Pre-ordered the slipcase set last year, been waiting awhile.  :dreamer:

I think the new RQ Glorantha slipcase isn't out in stores until the end of next month.

Dunno.. the estimated release dates have been all over the place, if listed at all.  The time between their bulk shipments arriving in-country and actually getting to stores is highly varied these days.  Especially if it was a Kickstarter (not sure in this case) and they're worried about the KS people complaining about not receiving their stuff before retail shelves.

See: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/36/Goodman-Games/subcategory/187_4930/3E-Products

I bought $39 worth of stuff for 36 items - more stuff than I'll probably be able to read in the next couple of years.  I've found that pdfs of adventure modules and game settings works better for me than print.  I'm only getting hard cover rules now (unless it is a freebie for running stuff for Chaosium).

Goodman Games is having their annual Christmas Sale.

The Year That Shall Not Be Named cannot put a damper on everything!

The big sale of the year is here! Practically everything in our online store is on sale for up to 40% off – but you need to act fast before the sale ends. Dungeon Crawl Classics! Mutant Crawl Classics! Fifth Edition Fantasy! Original Adventures Reincarnated! System Neutral Books! DCC Lankhmar! Xcrawl! Metamorphosis Alpha! And much, much more! It's all on sale!

To be a part of this sale, you need to know your codes. There are two codes covering the various sale items on the site. You just need to know which one applies where, so we've laid everything out for you below.

And here's the ultimate cheat: PUT BOTH CODES IN WHEN YOU CHECK OUT! That's right, these coupons do not stack! You can use them together, so just put both codes in and you will get the discount you need!

Here's the cut-and-paste version of the codes:
•   BF2020GOOD
•   BF20203PP

So, Modiphius has lost the license for the Conan property and this could be a sorta "last call," for things - I know it's finished up my collection fwiw.  Strike while it's hot, boyos.
