Quote from: Rayfer on August 01, 2024, 12:18:52 PMMatrix sale I noticed today.....80% off "World in Flames"...$20.00    Historically, postings have, well to be honest, trashed this game.  I must ask....is it even worth $20.00 just to see how bad it is, or has it aged well and is playable, and did they ever put in an AI...??

That whole release was the worst experience with matrix, extreme high cost that they never delivered.  There is some kind of single player being tested but who knows what happens there.  The game has very old feel as built so long ago, feels like a windows 3.1 game of the 90s.  Can't speak how it works for multiplayer.  Personally I won't give them any more money towards it, but it's possible you may like for $20, but I wouldn't be surprised if still not good.

This is still a thing?

I thought they would have burned it and pretended it never happened

I remember the whole dev cycle and the poor guy trying to write an ai and they announced no ai with a charge of 80 pounds I think with the justification that it came with a shiny hardback rule book - it was a shit show - and no one ever apologised or admitted it that way

Yep, pretty much it...but there is testing going on for ai, don't expect much though

Very nice Warhammer 40k build your own bundle at Fanatical:  https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-bundle-warhammer-40-000-battles

If you want the Blood Angels and Tyranid Elites DLCs for Battlesector, they are cheaper to buy seperately from the bundle though.  https://www.fanatical.com/en/dlc/warhammer-40-000-battlesector-blood-angels-elites

Definitely iffy of them to offer DLCs that retail at $1.99 in a bundle where the minimum per item cost is $2.50.  I've not seen Fanatical pull something like that before.

The Ukrainian devs of the Strategic Mind series (3D Panzer Generalesque games, pretty high quality), are running a Steam sale on the series to honor the 3rd Ukrainian Independence Day since Russia invaded!

Aside from nice discounts on individual titles, the bundle collection is 64% off.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Just curious, why considered high quality.  From my experience didn't seem like that, but willing to listen.

Fanatical has Shock Force 2 in it's Diamond Bundle.  You have to buy 3+ games for Can$6.78 (US$5?) Other games that might appeal Wasteland 3 and Starship Troopers Terran Command.  https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/diamond-collection-build-your-own-bundle
