I haven't read it all but the part with the break up with the girlfriend really hits home; it's the exact same situation that I've just gone through.  We've been dating for 3.5 years but could not get past the fact that we really have nothing in common and trying to introduce her to boardgaming produced the exact same results that he got.  I had the same thought, "why do I want a GF...I mean really?  I'd rather be alone with my games and friends".   Ok, TMI but I'm glad that you posted a link to that story so that I can confirm that I am not alone in my geekiness/grogness.   ;)
