Stumbled upon this title at Amazon. Quite surprising. I think people back then were still thinking in terms of colonialism and imperialism. I don't think most countries think that way now.

IIRC, Butler came to believe his deployments were determined by the United Fruit Company which had great sway with politicians.

I picked it up for $3 after posting. Just finished it. He makes a good case for his position. Reading through i was constantly thinking that is what Russia is doing now. The canceled tanks that were put back online by presidential order are probably a prime example.
