Post by: GDS_Starfury on November 14, 2022, 08:28:59 PM

nice rig and great offer but no.
part of this thread is to for me to help myself actually define what Im looking for.
some things that now come to mind.
1. prefer Corsair ram due to my history with it.
2. 1000 watt platinum power supply
3. probably sticking with Samsung ssd, again based on personal experience with it
4. fine with liquid cooling but dont care for lit fans.  it will be in a fully enclosed case by Fractal.

looking for another future proof pc to last 5 to 7 years with only an occasional gpu upgrade.

I can't contribute any advice to actually building a rig, so I'm trying to think outside the box: diplomacy!  :D

There is no diplomacy with The Wife. Do or do not.

A new rig is a lot cheaper than a divorce. Just saying.  :-X

You really need to put a number on a budget in order to get on target meaningful advice, as prices on certain components are in a great deal of fluctuation now. I'd say generally though, if you don't need the latest and greatest CPU and GPU, then now is a good time to buy since retailers are trying to unload inventory of the last generation, with the intel Raptor Lake CPUs, new line of AMD CPUs, Nvidia 40XX and Radeon 7000 GPUs, having recently been released.

I just built this quickly on Cyberpower PC for $2,415. You might want to spend a little bit more and get a bit of a better GPU. I believe the 6750 XT is akin to a 3070. For a couple hundred more you can get a 6900 or 6950 XT, which would be a worthy upgrade.

^Can't blame you. I've had many Acers, none of them ever let me down. My older ones are with my daughters now. I think the oldest Acer monitor I have is at least 15 years old.
