Yes, I had mis-read the comments about Star Lords on Space Sector

I got the game.
And the alpha sure looks alpha so far, leaving me quite unimpressed.
Though this is still alpha (I guess Endless Space spoiled me with its very polished Alpha release).

That is one hell of a thorough preview.  The thing holding me back now, as silly as it seems, is all the missing feature content and place holder art.  I know I will buy this, its just a question of how long I want to leave it in the oven first.  Maybe I'll buy once they manage to get into beta.

I'm very tempted to spring for the alpha (and still may [for $20]), but would've liked to seen ship/race customization first as well...

I kind of feel the same way. I have a lot of games in "alpha" status at the moment (some from Kickstarter, some from Desura, and some have been released in alpha state - har har). Given they don't really have a firm time table, I'm in no rush to jump in. Sort of reminds me of Xenonauts, which looks like a great game and is shaping up, but has literally been YEARS in the making (and way past their original timeline).

Which Kickstarter games are these? anything interesting?

Crea (a sort of open-source style game like Terraria and Minecraft)
Dead State
Shadowrun
Wastelands 2
Crystal Castles
Stardrive

I think that might be all. All of the KS projects have ended, so you can't really get in at this point.

While I'm obviously excited about this one, I'm still perfectly content to wait until it's actually completed.

And another point:  In his preview of Star Lords, Adam Solo over at SpaceSector noted that the game still feels awfully incomplete, especially when considering the devs are aiming for a release date this year still.  I think they'd do well to push it back -- considering the states in which both Sword of the Stars 2 and now Legends of Pegasus were apparently released, the space 4x genre has taken a bad hit to its reputation this last year.
