I can barely get that thing into the air.

Getting it into the air is not as hard as landing it  :'(

Maybe add some exponential to your cyclic? Make it less sensitive around the centre.

I recently got an X55 Rhino, but haven't tried DCS since. I'll give it a "whirl" and see if I notice a difference in control.

Add about 15-25 on the cyclic "curvature" until it feels right for you. Control setup is very important for the Huey.

I've been impressed with the look of the spell effects & such.  I rarely say that about a game, but they stand out in D:OS.

I miss P3D. I have fully migrated to X-Plane now. FSX/P3D terrain still looks better.

If X-plane had the addons I want, I'd swap in a heartbeat.  I prefer the real flight model of X-Plane...but all the planes I want to fly are on FSX/Prepar3d.  I wish I could find out whether UTX Alaska works with Prepar3d 2.2

No idea. I don't have it.

I actually spend more time creating scenery and airports in X-Plane than actually flying. I like the quicker startups and easier management of add-ons in X-Plane. No need for installers, registry, external programs. Just place files in the game directory.

Applications run within the sim as plug-ins. No need to run external apps like in FSX.

I thought GEX and  I 'think' UTX specifically do not work in P3D..

Orbx and Carenado provide dual installers

Yup.  Though ORBX global vector and FTX global does what GEX and UTX does and fully P3D compatible.
