A War of a Madman's Making - a text-based war planning and political survival RPG

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.
- Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

You know, that was a really interesting point about India that I had never considered.

As reprehensible as the Nazis were, if you're being oppressed by Britain and Germany comes along and kicks Britain's ass, I guess I can see how one might view the Nazis favorably.

I'm certainly not condoning it...but I can see where one could adopt that attitude.  Kind of a lesser of two evils thing.

I learned something today.   O0

There's an extra level to at least some of those western swastika uses in the 20s and 30s though: the American government at the time thought socialism, in the fascist mode and otherwise, was pretty great -- FDR was on record being an open fan of Mussolini and Hitler, and even of Stalin, and the Nazi party was propagandizing hard to get America and Canada on board with supporting their renaissance of Germany out of the pit of destruction. Stalin's Communist International was doing the same thing, though naturally they were (mostly) competing against alternate versions of socialism (where someone other than Stalin would control all property and means of production. ;) And vice versa of course.)
