If I recall correctly, the theory is that human lifespan first crashed when we moved from hunter/gatherer to agrarian, right?

Human cultures all over the world have traditions of people living a lot longer in the good old days. The Bible is the most famous example, but the writers of the Tanahk (Christian Old Testament) were actually pretty conservative when it came to just how old people used to live, compared to contemporary cultures around them talking about (what we would now call) pre-history.

...uh, I don't have a funny pic to go with that. I'll just refer back to Windy's cameo in the recent SMBC entry.  O:-)

I wouldn't exactly take the OT as a reliable source of how long people lived thousands of years ago :P
Also I was talking more like hundred of thousands of years ago.

You do know this is scientifically false?
The average lifespan was actually greater than it still is today.

Only now in first world nations are we actually catching up to the lifespan of the early Homo-Sapien.

Huh? Could you elaborate on this?

I don't necessarily know about hard evidence regarding living longer

But I've read that the commonly tossed "average lifespan" regarding earlier periods is very misleading.  Due to far higher infant & child mortality rates skewing that average age down extremely far.

Supposedly, once someone reached young adulthood, their lifespan was likely to be that of our modern ones.

People weren't dropping like flies as soon as they reached 30.  Quite the opposite.  If someone had survived into their 20s, then they generally had a long healthy life ahead of them, barring any of ye olde ultra-violence.
