My wife is retiring at the end of December and I expect to follow within a year. We don't have any obligations to live in any particular state or even the USA for that matter. Currently we live a short ways west of Allentown PA.

I'd like to end up somewhere where I can play a lot of F2F gaming. It's always really tough to get together when we constantly have work and family obligations to contend with. I should be mostly free after retirement and I'm looking for people in the same boat. I'm fine playing with non retirees of course! It's just difficult to arrange when two or more folks have to coordinate their availability.

Northern VA, MD area seems like a good candidate. That's probably the area where most of the wargamers that I've met at WBC are from. We're also considering Portugal and a handful of other countries.

Any other good regions that you guys know about? Where do all the retired Grogs live?

Florida Ubercat, where being retired is a kind of wargame by itself.

+1 on Northern Virginia. Very active / strong wargaming groups there.

Why Portugal?

Beautiful culture, architecture, museums etc. Also, there's apparently a large expat community already. I know there's some wargaming but I'd have to see how much first.

My wife would veto Florida. I wouldn't want to live there either. Way too much traffic for my taste.

In Europe we don't move after retirement.

A few move to warmer Spain or Southern France during winter.

Dammit Carl!

Interesting kinda thing you've got as a retirement life requirement here.

I've no suggestions, but am curious as to what crops up, and good luck to you and the Mrs., by the way.
