It's D-Day - Allied Corps storms the beaches!

The spiritual successor to Allied General is finally available:

Cool!

Who do I contact for a review copy? I'll make a request on Matrix's Press area now, but I'd like to get an AAR of this up today if possible to commemorate D-Day.

The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

For those who have Panzer Corps, don't have an heart attack when your Panzer Corps shortcut appears to bring up only Allied Corps. Use the icons on the left. AC installs to the Pnzrcrps dir and automatically updates all to 1.2.

As a beta tester, AC has some nice new twists along with a few historical decisions I'm not comfortable with.

Can you tell us what the difference is between Panzer Corp vs. Allied Corps?

Any future plans  for an updated Commander Series game with the units of Panzer/Allied Corps?

Bismarck

The UI is the same but there's many more units and countries. Heroes seem to be created earlier. One can start as UK or US. The Taranto raid yields the only completely naval scenario. The campaign tree doesn't seem to branch until Italy. At the end, there's a Western Allies vs. USSR scenario. Basically, it's a mirror image of PzC without 1940 Europe.

I have no firm info on add-ons but we all know Slitherine's business model. :)  I can't blame them for maximizing revenue. BTW, I think AC is priced decently.

Frankly, I feel better fighting against Nazi Germany than for it.

Some of those gameplay changes, though perhaps seemingly subtle are quite significant and IMHO improve the game substantially.

Quite so.  Even more care must be taken when purchasing and preserving corps units.

Erik, can you tell us what "soft prestige caps" actually means?

I'm curious, too.

The victory conditions for the first Normandy scenario said I had to hold two town hexes. Which I managed to do. Yet I was still handed a loss. Granted, I was just fooling around not really trying to strategize, but I did think it was odd that having achieved what I thought was the condition for victory it wasn't enough.

Still it's fun.

Probably I ought to pull out the manual to read it first :)

BTW, the first three scenarios of the tutorial Desert Campaign may seem easy but the fourth requires real finesse. I recommend even seasoned PzC players to start with that campaign to build up a strong Brit core.

I beta tested this one.
Not sure about Afrika korps but AC has special victory conditions other than capturing victory hexes.
Also, there's an interesting Battle of Britain scenario.   Pure air war, no ground forces, and purchasing.

Grim.Reaper

So any initial thoughts on this one? Official forums seem kind of dead, which is surprising for a new release.  Not sure if that is a sign or anything.
