I really hope their office move results in better shipping prices, as hinted to in one of their recent newsletters.
It sucks balls, paying $16 fookeen dollars in shipping charges for a single game. And it still takes a week or more to get halfway across the country.
I'll blame it on them being in 'Commiefornia', barring further details. The shipping trackers often show the package bouncing back & forth between multiple cities in CA, over 3 or 4 days, before ever getting out. ::) Like pinball out there.

JD, these games are very solo friendly. The player doesn't have complete control for everything because of command and control rules. There is no hidden info. It's very easy to play by doing the best for each side.

Shipping costs certainly aren't getting cheaper.
But of all the tabletop games I've ordered, from numerous different retailers and publishers, the GMT shipping costs have been the worst. And I'm only halfway across the same country!
GMT's shipping costs are a real dissuader from ordering directly from them. It's usually cheaper to wait and order from a reseller.
If you think GMT is bad, try MMP. Theirs are ridiculous.

I have had good success in identifying which plane is advantaged, and giving them orders last. For the first, disadvantaged plane, I have the 3 best manuevers, which I give a 50-30-20% chance to occur. This gives a fair amount of uncertainty, and allows for decent solo play. Occasionally, this will allow for a reversal of the tactical situation.

When I started my P500 addiction I would get myself worked up into a "fret" about the "flash to bang time"; ie. the time from card charge to arrival at my doorstep. But then the game arrived and all was forgiven.
Right now I am waiting for Commands and Colors Napoleonics Epic Expansion, charged Sep 28; I think somehow I have managed to channel a Zen master...no sign of the "fret monster" yet. Or maybe like someone in an unhealthy relationship I've just given up....:(
I didn't fret about my last one showing up. But it was a block game without too many stickers to put on.
My theory is that I just want to get through punching & clipping the counters ASAP. Knowing there is some prep work I need to do makes me a bit bonkers. Even if it's not in my hands. Punching counters sucks; I just want to be done with it quickly.
Thought they were shipping this thing. Haven't had a whiff of it being on the way yet.
I guess GMT is probably severely backed up still. They didn't even put up a holiday sale yet, did they? The last newsletter mentioned they had to postpone their normal November one due to being backed up. Not gonna happen this year?

I wondered because I've been having mine shipped via USPS lately & get email notifications at every stop. Crickets thus far; hasn't been sent.
Don't mind waiting longer. But these pre-orders and kickstarters tend to show up all at once, in groups. Then some of them get stashed away, for later prep, and fall down the to-do list. Poor neglected things. :-[

While it looks to be great fun solo, I think I would enjoy playing one of you Grogheads via VASSAL even more! I think it will be delivered somewhere half Januari.

I've still not received any shipping notification from USPS of anything having been shipped. Unless they came back and sent it today & the tracking just hasn't caught up yet this afternoon. But who knows since they give no info. Hell, I still have GMT game orders listed as not having been shipped from a couple years ago on their site. :idiot2:
I hope GMT's new shipping system, which they keep talking about implementing, comes with shipping notifications & tracking numbers when they finally get it done. I'm not even in a big hurry to play these games ASAP, but having to keep tabs on when & whether it shows up, and make sure it doesn't get left in the rain/snow/thievery/wrong place, grates at my nerves with such non-existent shipping info and a one- to two-month expected arrival period. :pullhair:

I contacted GMT to see what they had to say regarding shipping notifications and their recent posting saying that all early December titles had shipped. They told me they'd made a mistake and that they listed the wrong titles and were still in the process of shipping out Wing Leader.

Some people on BGG started receiving theirs early last week. So they've been in the process of shipping it for at least two weeks. Must be pretty short-handed on the shipping side.

I had a similar situation with a different board game delivery right before Christmas....it was at my local post office one minute and then some reason got sent back to distribution center and then back to my local office again....made the delivery 3 days late, but luckily still arrived before xmas.

It's pretty easy. I can host. Decide on a scenario that appeals to you and choose a side (I'm fine playing any side/scenario). PM me your email and I'll set up the VASSAL stuff and email you the .vlog file. There's a blue arrow icon near the lefthand side of the toolbar. You can use that to move through each of my moves and stuff and when it's all done, you'll be prompted to create a log file. Do that, then do your turn actions. When you're finished all your turn activities, end the logfile and email it to me. I'll do my stuff and email it back and so on...
