Fortuitous timing for me.

Turns out my matrix anniversary coupon runs in tandem with their annual December sale.   Bummer.  41 per cent off of sale prices.....

www.gog.com is having a huge sale - better than their normal sale.
I would buy a bunch, but I already have 97 games from them.

Is the 2016 Master of Orion worth it for $10?

I know not a wargame place, but believe some people have expressed an interest in the sports game from Dave Koch Sports.  Every year they do a large black friday sale which has big discounts as seen below.  They are usually limited in quantity so you would want to try and snag right away if interested plus bigger discount earlier in the day on some items.  This company makes season replay games for baseball, football, basketball, hockey and golf.  Although I enjoy them all, golf is my absolute favorite.

If not appropriate to post here, feel free to request me to delete and I will:)

We can lot leave out the traditional big sales from Shrapnel Games......

http://www.gamersfront.com/store/thanksgiving_sale_event.html

I always say it mostly in jest, but if I wanted a game bad enough, I wouldn't wait an entire year for a sale where you only get $5-$6 off......not saying the games themselves aren't worth a purchase and have been tempted many times to purchase....

Looked through the list and what a shame. I felt devastated that they have still never re-made that classic Forge of Freedom. That was the best ACW game I had ever played - but it looks soooo bad on the PC of today.

I haven't properly gave Civil War II a proper outing, mind.

i think they never did a xmas sale or ...any sale - mind you, they have great offers - i'd really like to add the italian theater to my collection of combat mission games or get into the panzer battle series after completing my panzer campaigns collection... dunno, but i still think, JTS and BF should do something about that - a sale would be splendid!  :)

btw, anyone know how 'Scourge of War' series performs on old (7+ years) hardware?

I'm a big fan of ACW 2 Dredd. I think it's about as good an AGEOD game as I've played ever. Much deeper than AJE or Birth of America and more manageable than To End All Wars.

I think it's well worth it. I've spent about 200 hours on it and i still like to play it. You can customize a lot of aspects. It's very much Civilization 5 in space....

You could always try the demo (http://www.scourgeofwar.com/downloads.shtml) for Scourge of War: Gettysburg.
Other Scourge of War games should have similar (low) requirements.

A little of topic, but this starts to bother me a bit :

We already imported Halloween a couple of years ago.

Now this Friday many shops have a Black Friday sale.

BUT I live in Belgium and we don't have Thanksgiving !!
Most people I talk with don't even know the origin of it.

Sales marketing can go a bit too far.

End of rant.

^That was funny as hell. About your ex, I mean.

I tried to make it a positive and view it as I would a financial investment (Hey, I've got 40% more girlfriend than I did a year ago!) but it never quite worked.

Yeah 40% more girlfriend sounds awesome until it's 40% more girlfriend, in every way.

Yeah, Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa is only $19.49. I think I need to buy it!  :o
You do - it's fantastic. There's so many other things to do than just move chits about. You really have to think about decisions and read reports and care about what's going on.

Thought I was safe from the sale, but now you have me considering...Eastern Front is just not my usual thing...but who knows.

DO IT! It's like no other East front game you've ever played. So much more than just move and combat. Every decision you are presented with has a direct effect on the game and the progress of the war.

Kind of a bummer when you have everything,  :'(... Only thing I'm looking at is piercing fortress europe. Warsaw to Paris is no brainer for a 10 spot if you don't have it, well balanced wargame.

Not sure...just feels like the Eastern Front games turn into slug fest of moving a ton of counters around:)  Maybe this game is different.....

Speaking as a Murican - we're disgusting.

Does anyone have any comments / thoughts on Commander - The Great War at all? I've recently taken an interest in WWI and the pickings are slim overall it seems.

How so:)  I know it has some of the decision aspects, but aren't there a ton of counters?  Is there a lot of micro-management?

There are less counters than most EF games. Each counter is a division. Take a look at Jason and my AARs to get a feel for the number of counters and a pretty good feel for the game.

Ex's can not only expand quickly, they can constrict quickly too. So fast in fact that the last time you see them is when they leave for work in the am. Then..... just nothing, gone. Faster than the new guy on a Star Trek show.  :o  And even worse, sometimes..... they...come...back.  :hide:  Everything on my Steam Wishlist is on sale but if I buy them, then my list will be empty.  :'( And Christmas is coming. So....

There are still a ton of counters (at least for the Soviet side), but the game (at least for the Soviet side) actively denies your ability to move them much. So there's less micromanagement in that sense. ;)

On the German side there's more micromanagement in other ways, but not in standard hex-pushing ways. It's more like role-play management. (The Sovs get some of that, too, but not as much. Each side plays quite differently.)

I downloaded and tried basically what is the Windows demo or single player version for JT's Modern Air Power and found it not too bad. Very easy to learn and play. Haven't bought the Vietnam or Middle East versions of the game though.

btw, anyone know how 'Scourge of War' series performs on old (7+ years) hardware?

Should run fine : https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/scourge-of-war-waterloo/12996

You could always try the demo (http://www.scourgeofwar.com/downloads.shtml) for Scourge of War: Gettysburg.
Other Scourge of War games should have similar (low) requirements.
downloaded the demo and after watching my troops move i got my specs verified with game-debate ( http://www.game-debate.com/ ) and bought the collection on sale, also bought the newer waterloo collection as well, oh my...  :crazy2: lucky, had my coupon at hand - couldn't resist  this year's 47% off!  :-"

cheers! ...and thanks again for the demo link.

Wonder if those ever go on sale.

I'm not sure if there's enough meat to the Vietnam and Mideast titles for me to pull the trigger at those prices.  Plus that online activation DRM for a single-player game..  :pullhair:

A sale might get me off the fence, though, if there's ever one.
