Why not a complimentary thread on the liquid that fuels our weekend gaming?
I have 6 assorted beers left over from the last few weeks- a couple of Shock Top wheat sampler beers (wheat IPA and Belgian wheat) as well as a Sam Adams East-West Grolsh. I'm going to have two-three of those, and then dig in to some Jameson Irish Whiskey.
I've been trying to develop a taste for Scotch, lately, but I'm not really sure how to start. Like, I know I can acquire a taste for it if I start drinking it, but my pallette is completely novice.
Anyway, I got lots of surfing in the last few days and the Pacific is going to sleep tomorrow, so no sense in holding back tonight!
Jamesons here too. Started out with pomegranate juice and went onto Irish once junior was in bed.... Scotch gives me headache long before I've had enough to make a hangover - it just doesn't like me - Japanese all good, welsh good, scotch not so good. There's nothing like sipping a good drink whilst plotting evil deeds.... I think spirits lend themselves well to TBS
I'm sure there are a couple of bottles of Becks tucked away somewhere, if not, we have serveral brands of single malt on hand for emergencies.
The Weekend started off with a couple of LongTrail Ales from Vermont. Good stuff :)
Man, that Jamesons goes down sssmmoooooooooooth. Too smooth. I am paying the price today...LOL. 8)
^we'll keep the noise down then, ok?
Coffee and water. Yeah. I'm just that exciting.
I started playing Risen 2, which has a pirate theme so I'm getting stuck into the spiced rum.
Last night was incredibly tame by my standards, a couple of beers from a Dos X sampler pack.
I might not even drink tonight, depending on what the surf forecast says for Sunday. However, just in case I still have half a bottle of Jamesons and also a huge jug of Captain Morgan's spiced rum. I really love Capt. Morgan's!
Last night it was Grolsch beer with Crown Royal Reserve shots. But taking it easy, since the objective is gaming, ha!
I'm drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee and later I'm gonna have some Goya grape soda.
that grape soda will turn your shit green!
^ Does it? No shit?

Both of those are awesome, though I feel a little guilty laughing at the Bud Light one given the community service they're doing.
But only a little, because it is funny.
Me?
I'll be drinking red wine. To match the blood I'll be spilling all over the pixels.
Iced Tea in the day, possibly Rumchata cocktails in the evening!
Diet Coke :-{
No booze for me. Pancreas is acting up again.
Dasani for me.
tea of champions
Typhoo? Yorkshire? Earl Gray? Liptons?
can i be a bit of a twat and say Clipper Organic Gold?
usually Typhoo Builders Tea but treated meself to some Clipper Gold - King of Teas, but not in a china cup!
As long as you drink it out of a Grog mug, you can be as much of a twat as you like ;)
heh - big ass mug - the only holder for tea
Sir Winston would've been proud of you m'boy.
maybe a Crabbies or two once junior is in beed
Perhaps as Grognards we should all drink "Grog"? ;)
Toonces, seems more than halfway there with his spiced rum. ;)

Alas my drinking days have passed into the mist of history.
Statute of Limmies and all that. I thinks the local constabulary
all have a day off in honour of it ending. Then they all toss one
back in memory of what was. Iced tea, diet coke is the way of a former Jedi.
Beer.
I brought home some Sam Adams Samplers. I like the Whitewater Ale but I'm not so fond of the White Christmas White Ale. It has a hint of lambic-y tartness that I find distracting. YMMV, of course. I'll have to get back to you all on the rest of the styles.
I'll be drinking some Yeungling Lager and maybe some Johnny Walker Red Label. Last night I had a monster bottle of Chimay. 7% alcohol!

My preference for green tea is Japanese Gyokuro. I'm sure you're well aware that bagged tea is crap. Get some decent quality green tea from Japan.
And you don't steep the tea - just flash brew it. Water about 90 - 95 celcius, pour it into the pot and then pour the pot into your tea cup. The character of the tea will change over four or five cups. If you don't want the caffeine just toss out the first pour.

Ah, no. It's in a mason jar. But after a couple glasses of wine a sip (or two) is all I dare.
I ended up drinking Capt. Morgan's instead of beer.
I feel a lot better after a night of drinking rum, and I do of drinking beer. And WAY better than after drinking red wine. I don't know what it is about red wine (I like the Yellowtail shiraz variants), but it just crushes me the next day.

Sulfites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfite#Health_risks). It could also be the tannins and histamines that are found in red wine.
So this morning on the radio the local talk show guys were sipping and expounding on the joys of single malt scotch. Over the last year or so I've been trying to develop a taste for whiskey and scotch, but I'm definitely a complete novice still.
At any rate, there's a fine liquors store right next to the place where we get take out pizza and tonight I decided to do some shopping. I just cracked open a bottle of a single malt scotch called Speyburn. The two reasons I picked it are 1) it's a single malt which I wanted to try and 2) it's bottled in Moray which is the province I play almost every time I start a game of CK2. So it was win-win!
<takes a sip>
It's good. I can tell I need to acquire a taste for it, though.
I also got a bottle of locally made pineapple flavored Maui rum (80 proof). Haven't tried it yet, but it had a little lei around the neck of the bottle so I'm sure it's awesome!
Speyburn is one of the great values in single malt scotch whisky and is an amazingly high quality spirit given its price point. Fans of Speyside whiskies will be particularly impressed with this elegant dram and if you've never tried single malt scotch whisky before, Speyburn is a great place to start. Light, fruity and relatively complex with notes of gingerbread, apricot and orange marmalade, Speyburn will make a great addition to anyone's home bar.

Huh. Well I guess we all get something to rile us up in the morning before we've had our first cup of coffee. Today for me was the dog barking at 0600 wanting to go out. All I wanted to do was sleep in a little, but no. Instead I stood out on the porch in a 30 degree chill waiting for him to sniff every single blade of grass before selecting the perfect one to befoul with his urine.
Can we please get back to discussing my awesome choice in Scotch. Or coffee. I'm a Folgers man when it comes to coffee. I mean, I'd like to grind my own beans and have some super obscure blend, but I just drink too much coffee to go all high-end with that shit. I need something I can get by the bucketful.
In fact....I don't think I'm drinking Folgers at all. I think I'm drinking Costco Kirkland coffee! My wife puts the coffee from the Kirkland coffee into the Folgers container because the Folgers container fits in the cupboard better. Ah shit, I'm a Costco coffee man. Wow, that's pretty low.
At least I drink decent Scotch. 8)
Well at least you don't drink that coffee where the beans are picked from the poop of animals. That is just freaky and wrong on so many levels.
maxwell house in my .5 liter coffee mug.
I drink whatever the wife picks up from the store. Usually Folgers or Maxwell House or whatever is on sale that week.
I find Folgers to be to acidic for my digestion.
I buy the Stop&Shop brand Morning Blend and New England Blend Keurig cups. They're fairly cheap compared to 'big name' cups and I'm too lazy/groggy in the AM dark to be trusted with a coffee scoop and filter, or anything with some assembly required for that matter.
I'm finishing up the last little bit of Maker's Mark I have right now. After I finish it I'm going to have a wee bit of the Speyburn to see how they compare.
I really like the Maker's Mark. I'm not sure if I enjoyed the Speyburn. Maybe I'm a bourbon man?
Lavazza's nice

I told my wife that I wanted a bottle of "Irish whisky...JB." She heard, "Whisky...JD."
So she came home with a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey. I'm drinking it, but to be honest I'm not a fan. Too sweet and syrupy for me even though it's still 70 proof.
It doesn't taste bad exactly, but I'm just not into something with such overwhelming sweetness.
