With sales likely starting soon and if history is correct again, Matrix games will start its sale tomorrow and then steam and others will start to follow. Not a lot on my shopping list this year so thought if people shared what they have been holding out to buy, could provide some ideas to myself and others since I would hate not to buy anything:)
For me as mentioned, not a lot on my radar, maybe some small stuff that I missed from Matrix and a couple of the air power games from wds designs when their winter sale starts. Besides that, not a lot that I can think of at the moment.

It won't be on sale, but the upcoming CMO Falklands DLC looks interesting.

Yeah. I was hoping it would be released so I could use my anniversary coupon at least but unlikely as well. Is there any known release date?

Awesome, that works for me...
This thread popped up at the best time....I have Pentiment and Warplanes: WWI Fighters (VR) in my cart right now...waiting.
Plus a slew of other VR titles that I am digitally fondling.

^I'm all about that phrasing, son.
I thought I felt a tingle on my dongle this morning. This explains it. I refuse to get my hopes up again that the Holiday sales will coordinate with my wallet still having something left in it and will be worth the wait. We will see. :coolsmiley:
This year's holiday sales do not coordinate with my wallet at all but I am determined to make it work.
As ever, trying to resist the "It's on sale, so why not?" impulse. I fell off that wagon with WitP:AE a few months back - realistically there's no way I'm going to ever play it. But at least I won't be playing it for 80% less than I wouldn't be playing it at RRP I guess.
Everything I actually want will be at full price, I'm thinking.

I can assure you VR is great for digital fondling.
I don't go invisible on Steam for nothing.
I hear what you're saying Father Ted. I've fallen into that trap myself a few times.
In any case nothing on my wishlist is due to release anytime soon so I guess that means no sale purchases for me this year. Unless I succumb to the "I really want to play something new RFN so is there anything decent on sale?" virus.
;D hahaha D

Isn't it better to pay 80% less for something you'll never get around to playing than to have the cash in your wallet but know that if you bought the thing right that instant you would have to pay more?
I'm not sure.
I kind of feel glutted on the game collection, who knows.
But I'm sure to get something on Steam, GOG, or Matrix. Plus if all goes well (and it does...my anniversary coupon is due)
I haven't even thought about what I might pick up; War in the East 2 is the only thing I'm kinda-sorta-maybe wanting.
RPG-wise (the tabletop variety) I could see plunking down dosh for Blackbirds if the price is dropped a bit.
Speaking of sales, Steam's Autumn Sale has commenced.
Damn, Star Wars Battlefront is $5...gotta get that.
^Well worth 5 dollah.

That is my philosophical (and financial) conundrum
Matrix sale now has started....I'll likely pick up some small DLC and such, pretty much have everything else that I want which is on sale. But will wait until tomorrow so I can bundle with my coupon and also pickup Flashpoint and new falkland dlc.

The Falklands one looked intriguing.
Maybe I might get some Panzer Corps 2 DLC? I dunno. I am thinking more in terms of hardware such as more RAM for my machine and a new 2nd monitor though. But as I said before there's some goodies to get. :)

Yeah, I am picking Panzer 2 DLC up myself...just in case I actually ever get to playing the game:)
In the last 3 Matrix holiday sales I've bought 9 games and only played 2 of them. Not sure there's anything else I want to get so it can sit unplayed on my hard drive. Part of the problem is my anniversary coupon comes the day after Christmas so they're dirt cheap.
I am tempted by a few games. One of them is Age of Sail.

Haven't played it in a while, but really enjoyed it for what it was when I did. For $15, if your interested in the subject matter, don't think you can go wrong.
You mean Ultimate Admiral Age of Sail ? Yes you'll get your moneys worth for 15bucks, it's really fun. After the same devs broke naval action, this is my go to age of sail game.

A really really good game. I finished the British campaign and started the US one. I will buy the barbary states DLC if I ever finish the American one.
I loved landing troops but the land battles were grinding. Very hard to come out of without losing a lot of men.
I am not planning on buying anything. Too many games already. So far I have bought two anyway.

Does it have a mission generator allowing you to create small ship on ship battles apart from the scenarios and campaigns?
GOG sale is live also. Not sure I'll buy anything else, even though I have Steam dollars in my wallet. Picked up Alpine Unrest a DLC for Generation Zero so far. Looking at "The Troop" which is 25% off and is up to 29 scenarios available in game. Another one I'm looking at is Zero Sievert, a top down, survival game in early access that is apparently pretty fleshed out for early access. Maybe DLC for Battle Sector, who knows, I'll browse all the FPS games on sale as I'm a sucker for them even though the reflexes are waning. I Just bought the new Flashpoint so playing that a lot, and went back to playing the Doom slayer in Doom Eternal.
There's so many sales, there's really no rush to buy anything. Like a lot of folks here, I have more games than time.......but they are new and shiny :idiot2:
I picked up a bunch of the SGS titles that are 50% off. I'm toying with the idea of Getting New World, but I know chances of me actually playing it are very nominal.

Playing SGS' "Heia Safari" while reading "African Kaiser" https://www.amazon.com/African-Kaiser-Robert-Gaudi-audiobook/dp/B01NCZEEB5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=RS682ZGFSDWL&keywords=african+kaiser&qid=1669581037&s=books&sprefix=african+kai%2Cstripbooks%2C196&sr=1-3 (https://www.amazon.com/African-Kaiser-Robert-Gaudi-audiobook/dp/B01NCZEEB5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=RS682ZGFSDWL&keywords=african+kaiser&qid=1669581037&s=books&sprefix=african+kai%2Cstripbooks%2C196&sr=1-3) was a really fun summer activity.
With trepidation I picked up Galactic Ruler. "Average Gamer" has some tutorial videos that make up for the utterly lacking manual. The game is just too compelling for me to pass over.

Had a lot of potential I thought, but Battle Goat released it out of early access way too soon in my opinion and the support since has been pretty lackluster. I had high hopes for this...pretty disappointed.

Dude, it's epic. The world is so alive and there is so much to do within it, I was actually overwhelmed and had to put it aside because I unfortunately couldn't avoid living my actual real life.

Just picked up Dune Spice Wars.
It didn't grab me at first, but there have been some really nice updates over the past few months and the game is getting quite good.
Despite my earlier words I did buy "Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter" - but in my defence it's been on my wishlist since it came out.
Well let's see, after the sale... I ended up buying:
Pavlov's House
Rebel Inc: Escalation
Nocked! True Tales of Robin Hood
Mars Horizon
Ballads of Hongye
Naval Hurricane
I bought Clanfolk, Against the Storm, and Age of Darkness: Final Stand, as well as some Vermintide 2 DLC before the sale. (No doubt during the Halloween sale.)
Having been busy elsewhere, I've only played Hongye so far. It is a suuuuuper-arty real-time town-builder. The first mission (so far) very much leads you by the hand -- just do exactly what it tells you, without worrying about resources of which you'll have plenty. I'm not sure I'm getting a real understanding of the game yet, but reviews say it gets super-hard very quickly, which I can't say I'm looking forward to yet. There is no way to save the game until rather far into the opening mission either. Game mechanics are easy so far, UI is a bit fiddly. Can't tell if there's any way for me to rotate properties before placing -- seems like no, but maybe that functionality opens up later. The art style actually gets distracting while trying to learn the game! This is the first town-builder which has come close to giving my aging Falcon Mach V super-computer problems, and clocks in at over 25 Gigs download -- all from the art.
Father Ted, the Destroyer game is pretty fun. It reminds me, gameplay-wise, of Cold Waters, which is to say if you enjoy that type of gameplay you'll probably like Destroyer.
I got in with 1 hour left with Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
There were a few other titles I wanted, but ultimately passed on. I have soooo many games I've yet to play, let alone install...
After recently purchasing CoD MWII and Tactics Ogre and getting sucked back in to New World on the Fresh Start servers I confined myself to RDR2. I've got ~400 hours in RDO so it seemed like maybe its time to try the story version.
Time to get back in the saddle:
Well, as soon as I find a saddle that will fit.
^HA that is awesome - please tell me that's your actual in game avatar for RDO.
I ended up buying Red Dead Redemption 2, Imperiums Rome vs Carthage and the Field of Glory Medieval DLCs.
RDR 2 Story is really cool. I feel like I'm living in a freaking Western and the graphics are really amazing. The story is fantastic and the character development is top notch. With all that said though, as a game I really wanted more freedom to do stuff (like in Skyrim or the Fallout series). It just feels more like I'm on rails then I particularly like.
I really can't wait to dig into the Imperiums game. Everything about that game looks very well done.
