The C-47s and C-54s used by the Allies during the relief effort flew a combined 92 million miles which is only 1% short of the distance from the Earth to the Sun. It would take a beam of light eight and a half minutes to travel that far! If the Soviets could have known that before they instituted the blocade it would probably have blown their minds. ;D



And so, to sum up, one Berlin Airlift is nearly equal to one Astronomic Unit.
