I have a kickass new gaming rig from Digital Storm on the way that just shipped yesterday. I'm looking forward to playing the latest high end games that my old box hasn't been able to handle for the last couple of years.
Which of the Warhammer games do you guys prefer? Also, any other suggestions? I'm thinking Fallout 4, Farcry ?, Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity 2, etc.
I hope to buy one of the VR setups within a few months as well.
If you purchase Warhammer I + II, you will get access to the gigantic Mortal Empires campaign.
Witcher 3 is one my favorite games of all time.
Thanks! I checked out the Mortal Empires campaign. I'll definitely have to get my hands on both games for that. Witcher 3 looks mandatory as well.
You're welcome - having a campaign of Warhammer TW going while also diving in to The Witcher 3 is my gaming nirvana.

Is that swimming pool levels of loin moistening???
Oh yeah.
Gushing geysers of Gussie groin gelatin!
That grosses even me out.
Well done.
Steam summer sale incoming, you'll be able to stock up soon. Usually starts .....what around June 21st.

Assassins Creed Origins - even just for the Discovery Mode Tour, which is breathtaking:

^Yes! I am about 8 hours in to Origins and it is a beautiful game.

I forgot the AssCreed games. Definitely have to put them on the list. In addition to a VR setup, I also plan on getting a 4K monitor. Maybe I should hold off on them until I get the better monitor? Same with Witcher 3.
I've been deliberating between getting the 4K or the VR first. Which would you guys prioritize?

Whatever doesn't make me nauseous. It think both options will but I don't know. I will chose VR above 4K monitor.
Witcher 3 is so well optimized that it looks beautiful on almost anything.

I have a problem with Warhammer II. I want to download the free DLC. But on steam, when I click download it opens the Total War Launcher.
In the game, when I check out the DLCs, it brings me back to Stam but not on the product page. What kind of joke is this?
:uglystupid2:
Ok so got them working. I kept "dancing" between in-game and Steam for each free content. Then I magically get it.
But that Regiments of Renown got me stumped. It appears that you need to create a new account on some Total War site to get it. Maybe I'll pass.
I had the same issue with the free dlc just today.
Regiments of Renown I did not have an issue with.
Incidentally, are there any effects to the ultra-campaign by picking up the DLC? (There's two sets.) I mean if you aren't playing pirates, high elves, and/or dark elves.
I did read that the new Pirates of the Vampire Coast will be encountered by all players, playable just for those who pay, of course.
I just picked up I and II late last night. I hope I enjoy it.
I have enjoyed both but not being a huge fan of the lore, I usually feel a little lost.

I don't know the lore but thought it may be fairly standard fare fantasy stuff, which I do enjoy.
Don't know the lore as well. But it's pretty standard fantasy.
Also don't know the lore but Warhammer I was very polished and fun to play. I'd like to get the second game but I can't beat the first one so.... think I'll wait a bit. Though I was glad to see the price finally coming down a bit.
I haven't won a game yet in the first or second game. Next try is the Vampire Counts. Soon!

That's very encouraging. Too many games are a pushover. I haven't played it yet but spent a good part of an evening getting the dlc's installed. Looks like there are some good mods on the Steam Workshop too.
Gus, do you recommend any mods that are a must have?
Problem is I have used many, many mods and haven't played in a while, so I don't remember.
For the more historical games, mods from Radious are always very good but I don't know if that's the case for the WH games.
Ok, so I loaded up the Mortal Empire campaign and I realize I have no idea of what the hell I'm doing. Sure is a lot of buttons and screens. Maybe the other campaign would be better to start from?
All the other campaigns are smaller in scope. The Mortal Empires campaign is the biggest TW campaign ever, IIRC.
I'm going to devote plenty of time to it this weekend. I love the idea of the game and since it is fantasy, I get to suspend disbelief and take a step away from my traditionally historical gaming. I want to like more typical rpg's but it seems following the stories and getting interested in all the chatter keeps me from sticking to it. I played a bit of skyrim very little witcher 3 and even less divinity 2. Maybe TWWH will grab me as it seems like it well be less lore and more gore.
Feel free to use that term.
Where?
Just about anywhere. The in-laws house for the holidays?
I for one don't mind a little gore with my lore but I absolutely will not tolerate lore with my gore. As for mods, I used Radious for Warhammer 1 and while it made the economy and Public Oder easier to manage, so I could build more armies, it did the same for the other factions too resulting in more and bigger armies everywhere. I prefer vanilla.
I also prefer vanilla.
Although I can see why some people use a mod to lower the amount of AI heroes spamming assassinations at you all the time. Which is nothing new in the Total War series, of course.

Don't realize because you haven't played much Total War? Or because you haven't played Warhammer, I thought most buttons are standard fare, maybe some 'new' stuff with each new version, but really not too much change to the 'main' UI in recent versions.

I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial campaign for either 1 or 2, but not for the combination -- the mod designers assume you're experienced at Total War games since Rome 2, and more specifically with WH:TW.
I looked and I have a grand total of 113 minutes with TW:Shogun 2. I forgot about having that and I can't remember why I never played it. Probably busy with something else.
So yeah. I'm a noob. I'll check out the campaign that shipped with the game, Vortex, and see how well it teaches as it goes.
I recall Warhammer I having pop-up tips on it's campaign. Dunno about WH II since I never played the Vortex campaign on it.
The past few TWs have "advisor" settings which are basically tutorial tips. I don't think they ever fully explain all the detailed concepts. I always found that hovering my mouse over stats & buttons to give me the best understanding by reading those tooltip pop-ups. They're everywhere, which is great.
Dude...dude. Bruh....
...you owe it to yourself to play a full campaign of Shogun 2.
Best game in the TW series, IMHO.
And don't forget "Fall of the Samurai", the only TW that includes Gatling Guns. :bd: And Naval Bombardment. :bd: :bd:

Keep talking....
The naval bombardment component is one of about 100 reasons why Fall of the Samurai is not only my favorite TW game, but maybe my favorite PC game of all time. Damn I need to play it again soon.
Don't forget the Naked Geisha Assassins. Not really, just yankin' Moreb's chain. ;D But seriously, there are Geisha Agents. And.... the H.M.S. Warrior, the best TW ship ever.
I remember my financial campaigns to save enough cash to commission a Warrior class ship...those efforts turned into minigames of their own. But once I finally had one I could blast every other faction out of my way for a shamefrul dispray from everyone else. God I love that game.
Medieval 2>Shogun 2>Warhammer 2.
Skyrim>>Witcher 3.
^Incorrect. Look it up!
Finally getting a bit to mess around with it and I must say I'm impressed with the amount of Help, tooltips and resources available. Quite a bit of information to process but it seems as they put all of the tools to do so within the game.
EDIT: A question though. On the browser help that pops up is there a way to go back a page like in the normal help?
Do you mean the encyclopedia?

I'm not sure. The one that has a collapsible menu allows you to go back a page but at times when I hit hyperlinks, a window opens that I assume is through a browser. That window also contains hyperlinks and once advanced I don't see a way to go back to the previous page. Backspace on the keyboard don't seem to work.
Post a screenshot.
