I was 11 in 1982 and I thought ET was lame.

They were playing D&D in E.T.  It can't be THAT lame ;)

The Thing was great.  Now, E.T....that sucked balls.

Agreed, The Thing is a masterpiece.  ET is typical Spielberg bullshit. :)

Saw that one. My rock is next to the local drive-in.

Out of all of them I think Poltergeist is my favorite. My parents would not let me see it at the time of release.

I think the first 'scary' movie I saw was Amityville Horror, I must have been 9 or 10...one of my friend's older brothers (it's always the older brothers) put it on HBO, I think...maybe a tape. Anyway, it totally scared the shit out of me and it was on my mind for weeks after.

How the hell is Wrath of Khan not the favorite?

Wrath of Khan I saw in the theater when it was new...it may have been the first time I was allowed to go to the movies without adults. The ear weevil scene is burned into my psyche.

But I am more of a ghost story guy at heart. Thus Poltergeist.

Come on, Wrath of Khan had it all. Ricardo Montalban was jacked. Kirstie Alley was hot. Spock died. And Kirk yelled, "Khaaaaaaaan!"

He identifies more with the midget psychic chic who comes to house in Poltergeist than any of the Star Trek characters

I spent most of the early 80's working my butt of and chasing women. But I managed to see all of those movies while verticle and Blade Runner would be my pick as best of the litter. Though all of them were a little on the dumb side. I was reading Tolkien then and so was hard to impress.
