It's now up for sale. 160 euros ($250 CAD). Does ship from inside US through shipping partner though.
Needs a table that's 120cm x 170cm for full campaign. :o

That's two hundred bucks for a game that'll take up two rooms. I know you're about the monsters but that's with the little model ship toys and such.

You're an Ace.
I want to meet and shake the hand of the person who buys this game, digests the rules, and plays it from beginning to end.
Kev, over at The Big Board http://bigboardgaming.com/, is currently absorbing the rules and plans to setup and do a blog series of him playing the game.

Just picked up my copy of Next War: Poland from the local gaming store - and they handed me a 20€ voucher from my previous purchases. They did not stock "1985" yet, but estimated they should be able to sell it around the 160€ asking price.

Almost pulled the trigger on this. A few things got in the way. First off the size, despite having a pretty large gaming table, I am not sure this sucker would fit. Also I was a little peeved that the quality of the troops in this game seemed a little off. Front line Soviet troops in East Germany fired on average just 5 rounds per year, and rarely conducted large scale field maneuvers are considered the equivalent in quality to American troops who spent half the year shooting tank gunnery (100s of rounds) or on field maneuvers. German troops (while of a good quality, are mostly conscripts) are considered better then the Americans, as well as the British who are rated very highly. Having served in Germany as an M1 tank crewman, and having trained with the German army, I would rate the German troops at the same level as the Americans. The British quality seems to be overrated in almost every war game, and at best should be equivalent to West German and American troops (with a die roll to see in any of their tanks and vehicles are actually operational ;). You could obviously add some house rules to overcome these issues. But the big thing is, I just don't have the time for a monster game like this. But much respect to the developer/designer for taking on this project, and kudos to the manufacturer, as the components really seem to be top notch.

Aren't we all.

Brokeback Mounted Mapboards.
Mirth a little unboxing video to help loosen your purse strings.
Components look pretty decent but I do not understand the logic of putting a red Soviet flag on a similar colored red background. I get that it does not bother most people but I find it an odd design choice. And the counter punch seems like its going to lead to a lot of ripped counters if you do not painstakingly cut them with a straight edge and razor.
Sold out, it seems.
Darn. Too late. If I had known about this earlier I had ordered a copy to play with my old man.
Any idea about eta for the next run?
Haven't heard anything about a second run. It was originally only to be a short single run...but I doubt they has guessed at it's popularity.
They are already talking of their second game to update.....

Also interesting to see the screen shots were made on vassal.

Now I have to figure out how to come up with 160 Euros, plus shipping...oh well. I'd sell one of my children, but they have already left the house... ;)
Got mine as well! My transaction was already cleared with 'finance dept'. 😜
For those not having reserved for the second run and still want to buy, go NOW to trlgames.com. Only very few copies are up gor grabs.
I read 15 of which I know for a fact 1 is already gone, so allegedly 14 left.
Still 59 copies available from www.trlgames.com
Man, that looks seriously tasty, but that's an awful lot of money for something I'll never get to a gaming table.
I imagine playing that with 3 people on a side would be a gaming experience of a lifetime.
I picked up the big box!
Production quality is good, although the last row in a section on the counter sprue isn't cut as neatly as the other rows leaving a little too much of the counter attached to the sprue. Need to be cautious there when cutting them loose.
The countersheets have a nice glossy finnish and are of good thick quality cardboard.
I really like the graphics on the maps. The two big ones are huge! I am not sure anyone would have the room to lay them out for a full campaign on any normal table! 😄
The Second Echelon came with the latest living rules version as of now, which is a nice touch to have in hardcopy version.
The box is unusually large. And tbh raised my eyebrows a bit when I opened the lid, because the contents leaves lots of room.
No items were damaged inside, but I can see this happening during rough transport, which is a shame for such an expensive boardgame.
The scenariobook with designer's notes is well written and an interesting read.
Now comes diving into the rules and play this bad boy!
We want pictures! :D
It certainly looks a very impressive game.
Man I'd love to play a game like this just once in a big group before I die.
Pictures are coming later this week. My old man has put up a challenge: he will see if he's up playing NATO against me as the Commies! So its will be the 50's generation playing against a 80's kid! 😜
Thats bound to be causing some interesting differences in viewpoint of how to execute war plans!
