make it a hover tank! :bd:
I built one of those. My first tank build too. Nice.
Coming along
(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/967/40432658230_20d4d3c14e_k.jpg)
Lots of wee bits
Taking shape. I'm almost ready for painting
(https://farm1.staticflickr.com/982/42218980842_db26eaf7eb_k.jpg)
I'll probably do a black base like Andy at Andy's Hobby HQ does and then do the wheels individually, the chassis, paint the tools with a brush, glue on the tools, put the wheels on, then the side skirts and boom...some klear and wash.
I think I'll lightly "tack" the skirts on without the wheels on to get the flow of the camo, then take them off to get the wheels on.
This is a beautiful model. 1996 this mould came out! :notworthy:
So I used a black base method to give some depth to the paint (a technique I found out from Andy's Hobby Headquarters on Youtube)

Hm, i saw last week the same model in a shop. Great, i will go and take it now 8)
I love your enthusiasm, but you should probably buy it rather than take it ;)
Nice camo job, JD O0
Dude...that is really impressive work. Nice job!
Wish I had the patience and the talent to get into model making.
Thanks guys.
There's still alot of work ahead. I'm looking at rusting techniques and looking to possibly bend the "fenders" and take a panel or two off the skirts.
Also, I think the paint might be a bit bright, so I'm looking to take that down a bit. I think I recall seeing a video where a guy gave it a thin overcoat of brown. I might not - I might just go with some washes - but I'm looking about to give this a dirty, worn, battle hardened look.

I think you're right, it does look a bit bright and pristine. Have you used ink washes much? I used to use them quite a bit when I painted figures etc, and they're great for making things look muddy, especially as the ink tends to build up a bit in corners, between the edges of armour slopes etc.
I think you're making a lovely job of this, and can't wait to see your final result. :)
Not enjoying rubber tracks anymore. I used to think they were ok - but the last 2 sets I've used have split and I've had to use staples to hold them together
Anyway - staples and some glue and they look like proper Panther tracks

No I haven't used ink washes. I do have a selection of washes and powders that do the trick though and I just bought a Humbrol Oil wash which I hope to put to good use on this baby.
This is one beautiful monster. I've really enjoyed the build and I'm looking forward to making it look battle ridden.
Not sure if you can see this in the images - but it is quite a difference to the naked eye...
I've put a thin Dark Brown "mist" over the model to take away the starkness of the colours.

I haven't used the proper paint for chipping. I'll be re-doing that I think.
Then it'll be a satin coat, decals, satin coat and then weathering.
This shows the dulling effect better of the dark brown mist

individual tracks are your friend:

Looking good JD- gonna be lots of nervous Shermies out there.
Try lightly washing up the 'metal' scars with rust. some slightly, others more (older).

I was going to muck them up about. They look odd currently and very bright. I've got lots more weathering to do.

I'm on the edge of thinking about ordering individual tracks in the future. It's extra cost, but to get the right look, it may well be time to justify the extra cost.
Very nice work, I've never done that kit yet.
I've tried Fruilmodel tracks in the past, they look fantastic but the costs and labour to put them together can be a real hassle. With good weathering, even rubber tracks can look good.
Thank you
She's shiny now, but that'll be dulled down with some dirt washes

Looks swell. Just from the act of trimming toe nails, and trying to see what I'm doing at the same time, I realize my plastic modeling days are past. :DD
I really like this model, the colours work really well together.
I don't think I've ever built this kit yet, surprising enough. I'd definitely buy the Tamiya kit.
the newer Dragon kits are more accurate.
Tamiya 1/35 Jagdpanther - £24.99
Dragon 1/35 Jagdpanther - > £50
Depends on priorities and how you feel about it. Dragon are superb models. But would I feel good doing a mediocre paint job on a £50-£70 kit? I don't think so. The paint job I've done is worthy of a £25 kit.
Besides - I got a Jagdpanther AND a Panther for £40 ;D
around these parts the Dragon kits are way cheaper then the Tamiya kits and provide more options.
What's that creature on the table trying to attack your tank?

Then I used a technique I had never used before...Humbrol powders activated with water and Matte Cote for adhesion and then enamel thinners to re-activate and spread/thin. I might have gone a bit overboard - what d'ya think?
