I've been looking on BGG and reading some material on these two games (Wing Leader series).
Who owns them? Any comments on the series? Good or bad?
I'll take your comments off the air, thanks :notworthy:
I own them. They are great games. Recommend them without hesitation.
we've run events at Origins with them the past 2 years, to rave reviews.
His got canceled for lack of players.

whose point are you trying to make?
I'm not sure anymore
LOL
Love how threads get totally derailed here!
Thanks for the comments gents. Good enough for me to warrant a purchase O0
Derailed? We've been talking about Wing Leader the entire time.
Huh....maybe you're right. I'm just used to threads getting derailed here :P
it's a solid assumption to make
They're great games. Fun, easy to learn and easy to solo. They also look fantastic.
The mechanics have some relation to LBW's Downtown air war game, which turned into a series. Not surprising considering they were originally concocted by the same guy.
The Wing Leader series is easier to get into, though, since it doesn't have all the hidden planning & info stuff so embedded in the Downtown series. Makes it easier to run both sides if you need to, along with some less finely detailed bits shortening the learning curve.
How are the solo rules for Wing Leader: Supremacy 1943-1945? Since I don't have a gaming group, solo is really my only option. GMTs website ranks it as a high medium but curious to hear some first hand impressions.
There aren't any specific rules or AI system for solo play. You just end up playing both sides if you want to solo it.
Seems like it would lend itself to solo play fairly well.
Just picked up a copy of Victories for $20 off someone from BGG. Hoping to get into this next weekend.
Thanks for all the info gents. O0
Good score.
I think it plays well solo. There's no hidden info. Most of the time your planes are restricted by C&C rules so they can only act in a restricted way.
And then there's always VASSAL to play other people. :)

Well Barth, I'm not sure I want to "pay" you to play WL on Vassal with me, however, with the CN discount rate, it might be worth it :P
:P
For you, it's double.
I have both editions of Wing Leader, and still haven't actually played them. :idiot2:
Clipped those counters, though! :bd:

After beginning to sell some unused games, I'm also beginning to question whether I'm just a counter-clipping and piece-punching service. :-\
It's best not to think about it.
I am now in 3 PBEm games for WL. Very cool.
