Passing by this morning I saw a commercial for IHOP go by, setting up a pancake deal for their 30th anniversary.
The jingle being (tonelessly) sung for the commercial, explicitly called out "Notice I said a P not a B, P P P P P P Peeee", and then added the reason: the B was a joke for promoting their burgers.
Um. (1) No one found the joke funny, or even thought it was a joke. (2) In the sense of a gimmick, someone spent waaaaaaaaay too much effort for a gimmick. (Which would have played better as a joke gimmick on April Fools.) IHOPs own YT channel is still showing IHOB burger videos as their most recent efforts.
Was going to say what a pointless sales gimmick / false advertising.
If anything it makes me want to eat at an IHOP even less (although with how I've changed my diet I seriously doubt I would actively seek out an IHOP to eat at regardless)
