Ive been through the U-boat in Chicago.  the thing had to be crewed by midgets!

That's what she said.

The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

It gets worse.
The Type VII Uboat, like the U505 in Chicago, had one head for the entire crew.  The ships stank in no time, and the wait to use the one toilet could be interminable.  Chamber pots were used in every space, for those who couldn't wait.
To avoid accidents, there was a special crewman who was trained on venting the waste in the head.
It was so involved and complex, that it is pretty well accepted that one Uboat was sunk by its crewman who got the valves mixed up and instead of emitting the waste, opened up the system to the ocean.
The boat flooded and was evacuated.

Didn't mean the U505 which is in Chicago.

Ah. Sorry. I stand corrected. Didn't figure I would be correcting you on naval history, but wanted to offer the story just in case :)

Correct away.
There's always new things to learn.

I recently watched Das Boot in German.

Besides this movie, "Wahoo" and "Clear the Bridge!" are great non-fiction reads.
