Most of us are old enough to remember its significance (hell, Steelie and Bawb probably remember its construction) but I suspect anyone under 30 has no clue what a big deal this was...

I remember coming home from school that afternoon and seeing this being the news on TV.  I still remember how stunned I felt -- like it was too good to be true.  8)
