TacticalWargames

Just bought the rule book and Clash of Titans and Stalingrad expansions. Can anyone recommend any pre painted mini's for the game? Also cheap terrain etc. Thanks

Oh and does anyone play it? If so did you like it?

Also bought Combat leader and it's expansion as I just l've the scale, hoping it plays fine solo.

Thanks

I've played it and I really like it. There is a lot of die rolling as with all the 2HW stuff and you don't have complete control of everything due to the reaction system, but that tends to be what I like about the games especially as I play them solo.

I can't help with the minis though. So far I've used a virtual tabletop, some paper minis and counters, magnetic counters on a whiteboard and most recently a pack of cheap "army men" toys. I've just bought a couple of packs of cheap airfix soldiers to use, not sure if I'm going to paint them or just do some sort of stylised colour wash or something. I don't really have the patience for painting loads of figures.

I also thought about using the minis from Memoir '44 for a nice compact game though I'd need some way to differentiate them.

It's fairly basic 2d stuff using things like Maptool, Roll20 or Battlegrounds Gaming engine

Can work really well though once you get the hang of it, and makes it easy to create any kind of map or terrain.

You can see the sort of thing I'm doing here:

Not mine but it's generally the sort of thing I'm talking about.

I'm very tempted to start creating something in Tabletop Simulator though so I can do a virtual 3D tabletop. Looks like it can mostly handle it now.
