Always liked The Donnas.

What I'd love to see some time is a girl playing guitar in a band that's not all girls.  We've had bass players (Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Pixies) but it's really rare to see girls playing lead in a band that's not all girls (Donnas, Go-Go's, L7, Phantom Blue, Runaways)

If we're also counting rhythm guitarists, Delain has had one for the past few years (along with the female vocalist).

nah, I'm focusing on lead...  b/c the girl from 4 Non-Blondes played rhythm guitar, too.

Yep, and Nancy was a pretty solid guitarist that played both lead and rhythm.  But the fact that we're 10-12 posts in about this and have Heart, (sort of) Joan Jett, and a couple of Belgian garage-rock bands no one has heard of sort of proves the point, right?  And Joan got her start in an all-girl group, too.

I saw Helloween at a local German bierfest back in '83 or '84.  One of the guys in the band (maybe one of the road crew?) grew up nearby and agreed to come 'home' for a gig as a favor to his mom.  No one knew who they were back then, least of all the horde of Americans who had descended upon the fun.

There was a GREAT documentary on Netflix about Twisted Sister that I watched earlier this year/late last year. Not sure if it's still on...
