This particular sale was time limited and over, but might be able to find elsewhere.

Quote from: solops on April 27, 2024, 03:11:27 AMI looked at Manor Lords, but it seems so similar to Farthest Frontier (great game) that I could not get excited about it. What is the difference?

I've not played Farthest Frontier and have only dabbled in ML, but you're right, they do seem very similar (also Foundation, which I've played a fair amount of).  ML offers a Total War-style tactical battle system to resolve encounters with bandits and other factions.  Not a particular selling point for me (if I want to play Total War-style tactical battles, I'll play, er, Total War), but some might like it.  The other thing ML has is the option to plonk your avatar down and walk about in your creation, which I do find pretty cool.

About manor lords. I have to ask whether they tell you where the people that wander in and join your village are from. My understanding of fuedalism is that a family would have to get permission from their lord to leave the land. I guess given families miraculously learn trades it's not that deep.

Was a long time before I realized there in no oil on planets without plant life!  I bribed my giant theocratic major a couple times and they started befriending me. But they have about 20 units stacked in 5 hexes on my borders.

I was just looking at this game yesterday so your post about it being on sale was great timing.

Thanks, Grim.Reaper!

Well, for a change of pace inspired by the Ukrainian War apparently, but in a truly awful way, let's check in with Korea!

The forum engine wouldn't let me hit the time mark at all with the YT insert button, and YT itself gets spotty doing it this way. But it's at 8:48 of the Enforcer's news update today. Here's the overall link if the other doesn't want to play ball:

(I did test the timing link and it looks correct however.)

Well I was able to share some items of good news and go over what I've been working on lately. Then we dove into the disaster of Hue. Depending on how you look at it, it's either good or bad. Well, who am I kidding, it's mostly bad for the ARVN. Yay for paper tigers! It is an interesting way to play the game though, HOTSEAT. I recommend it when you're looking for a different kind of challenge. I still prefer playing the Scripted AI or a human though!

General Discussion / Re: Divorce! Well this sucks.

Quote from: SirAndrewD on April 07, 2022, 11:40:27 PMI know I'd mentioned in other threads I'm going through a divorce.

It was, actually really big thing for me, and still is.  It's been not as ugly as some have gone through I suppose but it's had its downs.

Anyone that knows me knows how much my wife was part of my identity.

I wasn't going to do a full topic on this but I got messaged by another esteemed Grog and friend going through the same if we could possibly start a thread about this.

I won't call him out but I expect he'll be posting toot sweet.

Anyway, I'll share a bit more but yeah, I spent the week in Orlando.  My paperwork was final in Feb.  Moving out finally on Monday.  Don't judge me but I think I have a girlfriend now..

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm glad you feel comfortable opening up about what you've been going through. Divorce can indeed be a significant and challenging life transition, and it's normal to experience a range of emotions during this time.
