Great Canadian writer. And No Birds Sang is one of my most favourite war books. Great first hand description story of the Canadian Army in Italy during WWII.

The book is rather more crazy/diary-interesting than even the Disney movie, such as when he dishes about bedding Dian Fossey. ;)
