Well dip me in shit and call me Stinky, I get a Friday thread. Welcome to the weekend and may we game until the sun comes up Monday morning. It'll be MP all weekend with Civ IV from Florida and California. EUIV from Washington state. Even some Warlock from Massachusetts. Gotta love the internet!
For me it will be Hegemony Rome:Rise of Caesar and Anno 2070
War Thunder Ground Forces and... ?
Maybe dip into some WitE again? Or another flight sim?
Or I'll just say screw it and bust out a tabletop.
WoT trying to win my SuperPershing should have it in 3-4 days
Going to wine country this weekend fer our 10th Anniversary, so no gaming but I'm also on vacation all next week. So when it's not raining I'll be planting our veggie garden and various other yard work.
Since I don't have to work in the mornings I'll get some early morning gaming in as well as some late night play in.
WoT on Xbox
Might try out War Thunder...
2 new board games are in bound so hope they show up next week.
New CiV campaign going as the Celts on a stupendously large earth map with true start locations. Already control the British Isles, Iceland and part of Norway and it's only about 300 AD. My religion is the largest by 5x the second place heathens.
The possibilities are as follows:
The Last Federation
Still learning this, but so far I'm liking it..... so many options, who do I piss off first?
Crusader Kings II
Continue my quest to form the Russian Empire as Novgorod.
B-17 Mighty Eighth
Doing an ok job as Squadron commander... if only out next mission we get a break in the weather.
Silent Hunter
Going to fire up one of the Silent Hunters, I have only played 5 a couple of times a long while back, but 3 I have worn out and 4 about as much.
Civ V
Continue my conquest as Fredrick the Great!
Also Pathfinder ACG / Falcon 4 BMS / Birth of the Federation / FSX / Wargame RD are all possibilities as well.
Uninstalled SoTS 2, Banished, Warlock 2, Endless Space
PE
Elite: Dangerous alpha
AGEOD civil war 2
AGEOD rise of prussia
At some point, I have to clear some of my books that are backlogged
Perhaps some CKII as Venice, perchance some Medieval II TW - Crusades campaign as Venice, mayhap purchasing Hegemony Rome and/or Endless Legend. This is all practice as I get ready to get ready to play Carthage in the Rome 2 Punic Wars campaign, however.
I'll play:
- Horizon: Humans in Space. I have 2 games currentely going on...i made the mistake to start my second game with the biggest number of stars so it's a long long game. Therefore i starded another game as the Kuntari with a much smaller map. With 3 kids, i like to have something less daunting (i will continue the big one but there's no end in sight). So far, i've enjoyed it more than Galactic Civilization 2.
- Total War Battles: Shogun. Almost finished the campaign...well worth the buy for my tablet.
- Birth of the Federation.
Also some PBEM games (Armada 2526 and maybe Storm over the Pacific).
Haven't played much of anything this week due to having a cold, hopefully i can change that this weekend:
Diablo 3: Take advantage of the launch anniversary and the +100% to legendary drops that goes with it.
Skyrim: Continue the rogue/ranger character I started last weekend.
EU IV MP: France conquest has hit a small roadblock. It would seem all of her targets (Brittany, England, and Austria) have all decided to ally together. Looks like for the time, I'm going to have to look else where for expansion.
Thinking of picking up AGEODs ACW2 after watching part 6 of the PBS civil war documentary last night.
CM Red Thunder, WOFF, Batman Origins and try and learn EUIV (though I think it's going to be one step to far for me).
If I can get BotF MPR++ to work right in 'hotseat' mode, then that. Else I don't really know. ???
Back and forth between CM:Red Thunder and GT:Operation Star. Ah, but to be able to take the best of both games and graft them together.
Started a new campaign in Rome 2 as Rome for about the 3rd time, this time with the Traits, Talents, Toadies and Radious mods and patch 12 and I must say I'm enjoying the game a lot more now but still not up to Shogun 2's standard yet in my humble opinion. Also playing Skyrim again where I just got a dog companion-- Meeko. He's totally a Bad-Ass, he fights Bandits, Bears and Saber Cats right beside me and never tells me," I've got a bad feeling about this". He is O0. And he was FREE.
No gaming for me this weekend, as I'm off to southeast Minnesota for the Syttende Mai celebration in my mom's hometown. Will be leaving in just a few hours; have a good one all!

I've actually been wanting to do some GT: Op Star again lately but I've not been in a big hurry to download & install the numerous patches for all the DLC. At some point I'll want to play it enough that I will. So many other things already installed and ready to go, however.
Master of Orion 3 Tropical Mod
The Stanley Parable
XCOM Enemy Within, Iron Man mode, all extra options.
What I'd like to play:
Distant Worlds
Master of Orion 3 with tropical mod
AoE2
Wargame:ALB
BF4
What will most likely happen (like my vacation this past week):
Diablo 3
I did manage about 5 hours in Distant Worlds while on vacation, but MOO3 was what was on the list last week. I also played a couple rounds of Wargame:ALB, the 1st tutorial of Sins of a Solar Empire, a tutorial game of Dom4. The vast majority of game time was spent on Diablo 3 though. Just too easy to sit down and get a quick session in. I got my barbarian up to level 70 to hang out with my monk, and have pushed my Crusader up to level 55. They seem to progress really fast in adventure mode.
The Combat Mission bug has bitten me pretty hard. Broke down last night and bought Red Thunder. (I have plenty of horsepower to run it but it plays sluggish for some reason -- BN/MG and FI/GL run perfectly fine for me with the same settings - ?? -- will have to spend some time tweaking I guess).
I too would like to graft CM and GTOS into the perfect ww2 game. Infantry combat in CMx2 is far superior to GTOS, and I like both the unit variety and density better (always feels like too few units on those big GTOS maps). But the fluidity of gameplay in GTOS is unmatched, and its operational level adds a level of immersion and strategy that is sorely lacking in CM's 'campaigns.'
F1 2013 will be coming out for Silverstone. I had a great practice with 2 tenths ahead of the whole field - I just nailed it in the last lap of practice. Unfortunately the rain came pelting down in qualy and I'm 17th on the grid.
ARMA III still to complete the second chapter and go on to the third. Great game but Nazi sharpshooters are a killer!
X-Rebirth - everytime I see a video of Elite I fire this up - and am ultimately disappointed. But I should keep going with it.
WitP:AE - I just don't want to give up on it

Frederick the Great's first book was AntiMachiavelli. I've never read it. But still Rise of Prussia is a great game.
But I'm going to be playing:
1) WipAE PBEM -- the May 1942 MOD has a nice slow start. Something or other may happen in the Coral Sea, but maybe not.
2) ARMAIII -- Small fights in the Editor
3) Roads to Moscow boardgame. The poor Germans have rolled badly on fuel and initiative so they are sort of stalled 40km or so from Mozhaysk while the Russians bring up one very good division, some excellent regiments, rocket artillery, heavy AT and AA, lots of motorcyclists and plenty of tanks in motorized brigades. Meanwhile the German advanced guard (7th -- somewhat motorized -- Division) is arriving on bicycles at a lonely crossroads soon to be forgotten: Prezhedinkov.
EU IV Naples
CKII Wessex and Parma
WG Red Dragon purchase and tutorials
Map design for CM:BS beta
I have a murder mystery tonight and tomorrow that I'm playing a cruise ship captain in, but I promised a review and some more Birth of the Federation AAR for the front page, so that'll all probably happen Sunday. Meantime very little gaming; we have a bunch of friends coming in from out of town to check out my show tomorrow and the wife frowns on me playing games if we have company over, so.
World of Tanks, MOO3 Tropical, maybe Endless Legend, plus taking the boys to see Godzilla for their 13th birthday.
Having friends over for some board gaming for the second weekend in a row. Zombicide, Level 7 : Omega Protocol and Wiraqocha are the most likely to hit the table this week.
On the computer, I'll probably dive back into Battle Academy, and maybe actually start Assassin's Creed 4 this time around.
Probably Endless Legends, Making History The Great War and maybe I'll massacre sacrifice send into space a few Kerbals...

Good grief, the stuff you learn on this site. May 17th has always been Norwegian Clam Day for my clan -- big norwegian festival at Fisherman's Terminal, also home to Little Chinooks, and some of the best clam fritters this side of slartibartfast.
Until now, I had no idea I was saluting the Norwegian Constitution with bivalves of greatness.
Now enlightened, you can feast upon your fritters while quaffing an imported Ringnes and reading passages from the works of Henrik Wergeland.

You know, Bayonet worked VERY HARD to get me in my most flattering light -- even arranging for my less attractive twin skeptic to look cross eyed at the camera. I think it's a little shameful you are trying to steal his PHOTOGRAPHIC THUNDER.
http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=10015.0;topicseen
Ahem, I apologize for shouting. But let's face it. PHOTOGRAPHIC THUNDER really sort of screams to be shouted. Or shouts to be screamed.
(Thank you tho for the puggles thing. I had no idea I was even more cute and adorable in amongst my people.)
lol - how the hell was I EVER going to find that post? Who frequents THAT forum?!

Trust me, there are arched eyebrows all up over the cute one.
And why shouldn't there be? If you were a platypus who learned -- years later -- that his treasured and supposedly genuine correspondal friendship with Fabio were ALL HORRIBLE LIES, would not skepticism creep into your previously open-to-a-fault heart?
^You never really believed anything Fabio wrote. Did you?

I believed every magical moment with the Fabster. Until the world of lies corrupted my virginal and highly desirable optimism. Fabio AND HIS LIES crushed all that was good inside of me.
Except bacon. Which may also be a lie, for all I know.
Bacon is beyond lies. Beyond truth, good, and evil as well. Nietzsche said so. I'm certain of it.
Thus Spake Baconator.
At least there is one absolute.
Well i seem to be in a management mood so i'll be getting up to speed with some more gnomoria and i reinstalled sim 4 deluxe with some mods so hope to start a new city. Going to try to teach my 6 year old daughter smallworld2 using pass/play, she plays ticket to ride very well so going to try to up the strategy level. Might try to get in some 7 days to die and throw in a battle or two of airship dragoon.

Let us know how Gnomoria is doing these days.
I've only fired it up briefly a couple times before, and those a long time ago.
I wasn't a fan of Dwarf Fortress because the interface & terrible way the various levels were displayed was just ridiculous and nigh unplayable. I picked this up because it solved
some of the biggest problems.
I fired up some of the new titles I've bought lately just to poke around. I have to admit being frightened by the apparent speed and complexity of Red Dragon. Checked out the new Thief for a few minutes and was intrigued at what I saw, and it ran well too. Also poked around with Crusader Kings II for a few minutes...would like to play as one of the merchant republics like Pisa, Genoa or Venice but I don't feel like I have enough time to dedicate to enjoy it right now. Then fired up Hannibal at the Gates and felt like I had arrived home. That will be my next big time sink.
Of course today once I got home I also finally bit the bullet on Endless Legend because I simply love the look of it, and also Operation Star, because I am an easy slut when it comes to the WWII eastern front.
I need a shower.
thats good splurging
its good to see youre getting a handle on your impulsive tendencies :P
I only bought two today, the others I've had. I'm getting better. My backcatalogue is still like 25-deep, though.

It does...still, I'm not getting any younger. Just gotta play that first skirmish.

I know! Shut up.
As trivial as I get, this weekend I'll be mostly playing Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare. It's about War! With Zombies!

So what happened? WitPAE -- The Japs are being very sneaky -- I haven't seen anything but some aircraft and a coastwatcher claims Rabual is empty and another coastwatcher claims he saw a very particular jap sub in Shortlands (which makes no sense at all).
ARMAIII -- Butal battles in a small town. Solitaire, but the Blue team I was starting with lost 5 out of six fights (ie wiped out or driven back).
Roads to Moscow -- Say it ain't so Shoeless Hauser! The SS UndergeststerbenaufFaherurangstmann got himself patched up after getting chewed up in a commie airstrike and will be at the front soon to relentlessly drive a few more kilometers AND the bicycling avantguard of the 7th somewhat motorized is looking across a little creek whose name will be Viola. Or probably not.
The Russian Tank Brigades are fanning out to give some command control to the unbrigaded troops and the 32nd is coming up to the main line of defense.
