Xmen and apocalypse themed tunes today
There will be Red Dragon, some CK II as Wessex and Parma, and EU IV as Naples
Will also be downloading GTA IV for some crime spree action, and the JH recommended Police mod
Have a good weekend everyone
Well, if it doesn't start with an "
O" and rhyme with "
Blyvion" then I'm not sure I'm going to play it! :o
Although, frankly, I'm feeling the pull of
Rome 2 (finally) and, there's a tingling non-sexual desire to do some F-1 racing as well (
F1:2013)...
Sunday should be an...interesting...debrief... :D :coolsmiley:
Not my favorite F1 video, but this guy's videos are so cool. This guy has the best commentator voice:
Distant Worlds Universe and possibly Saboteur.
Well I'm back from Bonnie Scotland - so looking forward to some gaming
F1 2013 - I still have to race Silverstone - starting 16th because of rain on qualy!
Wolfenstein New Order because I'm a weak minion
Combat Mission:Market Garden - I bought it before I went on my hols and had a quick look, so I'm looking for more gaming time
Combat Mission:Red Thunder - I prefer these open battles to the bocage on BfN
Looks similar to last week...
- Horizon: Humans in space....actually playing the Kuntari. You can follow the progess in the AAR (see signature).
- Storm over the Pacific: continue my pbem as Japan. Have some fresh troops ready which i will deploy on the different fronts.
- Total War Battles: Shogun, one last battle to fight before victory.
- Armada 2526 Supernova pbems
Red Dragon and FE Legendary Heroes for sure. Maybe some Commander The Great War PBEM (Gus I am looking at you)?
More CiV Celts campaign.
More Unconditional Surrender board wargaming greatness. It really is an elegant system Right now I'm doing the third tutorial scenario, Invasion of France and the low countries, and have rolled poor weather for both May and June.... really bogs down the German advance... July is always fair so we'll try to gat a real blitzkrieg going...
Distant worlds universe
Civil War II
Galactic civilizations to ultimate edition
Flashpoint campaigns (if the 2.04 patch comes out)

Some CMRT, Some WitpAE PBEM (sometimes the most sneaky thing to be is to be totally obvious, I think),Some Rome II Pirates!
Some boardgames
On the list for the weekend:
- Distant Worlds Universe
- Falcon 4 BMS
- Mage Knight
- Field Commander Napoleon
PE
Rome 2-- the new DLC for me which happily hasn't crashed any of my mods or saved games and learning Russian in CMRT. So far I've learned, "O-Hell-ski" which translated means, "Why couldn't we see that "Minen" sign until after we walked into this mine field?" "O-Shit-ski", which means that AT gun 500 meters away just got us with it's first shot", and a "Dumb-Ass-ski" which is any tank commander that sticks his head out of the hatch anywhere west of downtown Moscow. Who says Wargaming can't be educational? :uglystupid2:
Unfortunately wot; and maybe try again to learn Distant Worlds Universe I still have so many games that I haven't played though :(
Parental units are in town for a big birthday bash for Amelia. She turned 1 on May 27th!
Its questionable how much game time I'll get in, but I definitely want to test out the new X55 Rhino HOTAS with the premium beta of Elite:Dangerous and maybe some DCS and Take on Helicopters. I'd also like to play some Tropico 5 and Wolfenstein: New Order.
Pretty much a non-gaming weekend. Going with my wife to visit her family, not back until late Sunday. So enjoy your gaming everyone!!
Rome 2 as Carthage in Hannibal at the Gates and a few mods to pimp it out a bit.
Shell - I should be able to get going on that Commander PBEM soon...not right away, but soon :)
I've had so little time for games...for me I need to have a big block of time to ensure a stress-free enjoyment, not having to worry about this little thing or that little thing hovering over me waiting to be done...
In any case I unexpectedly got a $50 Amazon gift card through a work wellness program for getting healthy and stuff, so I'm looking to spend that sucker on a Victory Point game...just not sure which one yet. Either Cruel Necessity or Ottoman Sunset. If I get Ottoman Sunset I'm going to want Hapsburg Eclipse since the two can be joined and played together. Also possibly want to get In Magnificent Style.
Like I have ANY business BUYING freaking games...sigh. I owe reviews everywhere, it seems...
Computer games, I haven't played too much of lately. I tried to fire up Gridiron Solitaire last night, which never had a problem working before, now suddenly Steam gives me an error and won't play it. Just as well I guess. I grabbed the Battlefield 3 and Plants Vs. Zombies freebies from Origin yesterday, but haven't downloaded BF3 yet.
I'll for sure be getting some time in with Distant Worlds: Universe and Rome II this weekend. Would also like to play around with Pandora: First Contact if I can get the chance, now that the (free!) Return of the Messari expansion is available, and I'm itching to get back into Crusader Kings II as well.
My Gamers ADD is getting out of control so I'm going to try to focus on just one game...either Distant Worlds: Universe or EUIV.
finally jumped into the wargame's ..... first 2 anyway. Wish they would back patch EE to unlock the units and maybe a pause button so i wouldn't have to manage from so high up and get to see all the cool sh*t.... and recording feature for SP. If i can muster up the patience i'll be going thru EE campaign to unlock all the units otherwise it will be airland battle. I enjoy the skirmish mode the most. I'll be getting in some 7days to die testing out some different defenses and i should probably check on my gnomes in gnomoria. Of course my daughters 7th birthday party is tomorrow so i'll have 10-12 7 year old girls running around tomorrow, so will be doing the big inflatable bouncy house &slide combo with sack races and egg spoon races ect. ect. I'm on barbecue and entertainment duty and it will be mid 70's O0 so should work out fine. So all my gaming plans are tentative at best.

it's superb
I will probably do a few FSX flights..
Some Fallen Enchantress
If the moons align some Warlock MP with MD and W8t.
Maybe try and continue my Pontas Rome II campaign (getting my ass whipped, might have to find an easier faction and restart).
You win the internet with an Aphrodite's Child reference!

Fell back into Starcraft II...
Cheers

Now I am torn...the new Wolfenstein or Rome II? gah
That's my gaming OCD kicking in...can only play one at a time.

if you do play Wolfenstein, select one of the top two levels of difficulty. I played the middle level and its really easy with loss of ammo and health...to the point where you not only don't want to pick them up but you can't
How many levels are there? 5?

From what I remember, yes. Select one of the top two. I'm pretty poor at fps games and I normally select the middle ground...but I'm finding the middle ground VERY easy
Demon's Souls (PS3)
Distant Worlds: Universe (PC)
Pro Cycling Manager 2013: La Tour de France (PC)
Dominions 4 (PBEM)
Battlefield Acadamy (PBEM)
Warlock (MD&Tuna mp game)
Maybe squeeze in a few rounds of Titanfall (XBO360) if there is time...
Band of Brothers will be taking up all my gaming time.
Thanks JD...I don't even remember the last FPS I played.

TAL is fun. I especially liked it because of the terrain hex tiles being different every mission. So that adds much more to the movement-related decision making over other "Leader" series games.
The upcoming
Tiger Leader game reportedly uses the same somewhat randomized hex terrain tile system, so I will likely pre/order that when it's close too.
I've been playing some of the HPS Modern/Panzer Campaigns lately. Feels quite refreshing now that I've applied the graphics mod. Looks so much better - my eyes don't bleed after staring at them anymore. O0
Currently doing some delaying actions with British, Dutch, and West German forces in North German Plain '85. Fun stuff. Also makes me want to get back into Wargame: AirLand Battle and maybe even check up on CMANO's latest version to see how much the interface has been improved since release. I haven't picked up Wargame: Red Dragon yet.. been tight with the spending lately so I can wait for a decent sale in the future.
It's definitely a WW3 weekend on the PC for me.
I want to bust something out on the table, but dunno if I want to wrestle with anything too deep or too long. Some solitaire Sentinels of the Multiverse or Mage Knight Boardgame perhaps? I've played those enough to not need a brush-up on the rules.

Welcome, Bruce205! Glad you found us and our World Famous Friday Thread! I was out of town, so, some screwball got to pick the music this week, but, rest assured, something with some TASTE will lead off next weeks Friday thread. That'll be because
I start it :)
Up for some Warlock MP with Tuna and W8. Just have to mesh our times together. Probably get some Civ IV BtS MP in as well. After that, no idea.

i felt sure you would have been grooving to this weeks title track!
Distant Worlds: Started a random game last night and got the Kiadians, one of the races added by the DW Extended mod. Was up until 1 am playing. Turning out to be one of the most interesting starts I've had. Along with my starting race, I also started with a population of Ikkuro, who are providing a nice boost to my merchants. Have a super scientist who is providing at least a 30% buff to all 3 major research areas. Almost out of the pre-warp era, will be beginning warp field research as soon as I unlock the tier 3 ship construction tech. If I can finish up some of my other modding commitments, I might get started on my own mod. Planning on redoing the ground combat tree.
Command: Doing my planned bi-annual update of my US carrier import files. Sooner I get them and the US amphib groups done, the sooner I can start modding DW:U. Also want to give the new beta patch a go.
Europa Universalis 4

Actually, I thought there was a new patch in beta testing right now. So I figured that I could do some of these others until it's ready. Unless it's out now and I didn't notice. ???
I'm hoping to finish my latest map this weekend and then actually play some Flashpoint Campaigns. It's been too long...:D

That would make many of us here very happy if a game like that were to come out. O0
In the end I did 3 races in F1 2013. All practice, qualifying and 20 lap races. Silverstone (Great Britain), Nurburgring (Germany) and Hungaroring (Hungary).
I qualified 18th and finished 10th in Silverstone
I qualified 11th and finished 8th in Nurburgring
I qualified 12th and came 3rd in Hungaroring in my Williams.
I had an offer from Sauber and turned it down. They are below Williams in the Constructors table.
I'm 8th in the Drivers standings and Williams are 6th in the Constructors table.
I also played a wee bit of Combat Mission:Red Thunder - but not a lot and quite a bit of Wolfenstein:The New Order
^How are you feeling about Wolfenstein?
I'm very much enjoying it.
I think it looks great. It helps that I'm not getting stuck in levels because the difficulty is too high...that kind of thing kills a game for me.
I love the look of the Nazis with all their armour. I have a childhood fear of dogs - and ANY game that involves dogs frightens the crap out of me - so armoured dogs are not good - not good at all!
AI is a bit predictable. I don't know if that's linked to the difficulty level I've chosen or not (I doubt it).
But overall it's fun. And I love a good story...and it is a good story.
Cool, I'm looking forward to jumping in soon.
I bought Paper Sorcerer for $4 on GoG last Friday. I've been playing it (when not working) since then. Very fun dungeon crawler.
^ That looks really interesting! I think I'm going to pick it up- thanks for the head's up! O0

I had been tempted when it first came out, but had persuaded myself that it probably didn't have as much content as I'd like. Now I may have to pick it up sometime.

I've played it for 5 hours and am less than half way through. I really like it (at this price). I will probably write a review when I get a few moments. But lots have happened in the last 60 days and I have the screenshots and start of another review that I need to complete.

Flashpoint campaigns (if the 2.04 patch comes out)
There was a new build today, so still a work in progress.
I will be playing:
BF4
Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm
Distant Worlds: Universe
Possibly some Diablo 3 or Path of Exile, but kind of burned out at the moment.
Recap of the weekend:
I guess I did pretty good as I hit all of the games except
Path of Exile.
BF4 - played a few rounds. I went out of town for work shortly after release, and between the release issues and some burn out from beta + bf3 at the time I took a break until now. Now I'm trying to get back into it.
Distant Worlds: Universe - Had one really short game where I pissed off some very powerful pirates by listening to my advisors and not paying attention to the fact that I didn't have shields researched yet. They raped and pillaged with glee. Now I have another game going, but it is still in the very early stages
Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm - spent some more time with the 2.04 beta patch. Made the British hate me even more as I think I lost the tutorial scenario for the 1st time ever.
Diablo 3 - finished getting my Crusader to level 70, and then started working on my wizard going from 16 to 40 over Saturday and Sunday. Considering I only had 1 level 60 prior to RoS and I now have 3 levels 70s plus my wizard on his way there, I guess I like RoS.
I also managed to read about 1/4 of Rick's
The Generals.

Not surprisingly, I got sucked into
Distant Worlds: Universe, playing as the Quameno. I also started up a new Pontus campaign in
Rome II, but I'm kinda waiting for the mods to catch up to the new update before I resume heavy playing.
I hit just about all the games I planned to, although not as much of some as others.
Distant Worlds: The damn bug to my galactic south got lucky and found 3 habitable marshy swamp planets to colonize or takeover, while me and the two other factions I've run into only have their starting homeworlds. I did buy the location of an independent colony, incidentally a human colony in the Sol system, thats half way across the galaxy from me, putting it outside my colonial range. Think I'm going to take the opinion hit and invade them. Been refitting my fleet for the long range expedition. As soon as my scouts find a caslon source 1/4 to half way from the target for a resupply ship, they'll be setting off. The real problem will be trying to defend it.
EUIV: Started a new game as Brandenburg last night. Allied with Bohemia and Austria for the moment but eventually my goal of forming Prussia and Germany are going to bring me into conflict with them.
Kerbal Space Program: Having to relearn how to build proper rockets using the Feram Aerospace mod. With the atmosphere being less soupy then vanilla, all my traditional KSP rockets are way overpowered. Attempted to launch a probe to Mun last night, and my roll over turned into my rocket spinning end for end until it eventually exploded.
i lost a good chunk of weekend to designing a Donetsk map for CMBS
but when i wasnt doing that i was driving around in GTA IV and it was a blast. Still on the early 'go here, do that' missions to familiarise you with driving to and from destinations, played darts, played tenpin bowling. For £19.99 it was just what i wanted it to be, immerssive with hilarious vignettes that happen in these games that make you smile.
Just before i switched the game off i was supposed to steal a car from a non paying drug addict, wash it, and take it to a lock up. As i turned into the lockup, i saw a policeman chasing a guy on foot just down the road. I turned right into the lock up and the criminal ran smack bang into the side of my car and knocked himself out, the police guy shouts to stop me, and now i have a wanted star for knocking the burglar out. Reverse out of lock up at high speed, crash into 2 police cruisers and accidentally run over the policeman on foot - crazy police chase through town but made it to spray shop in time for respray and new disguise - now slowly deliver car back to lock up and walk away like nothing happened - made me smile throughout the whole experience

Also makes me want to get back into Wargame: AirLand Battle and maybe even check up on CMANO's latest version to see how much the interface has been improved since release.
A lot, I'm happy to say. We released v1.04 RC1 (http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3622448) this weekend and most of the improvements have been on the UI. Also check the "UI improvements" sections on the v1.01, v1.02 and v1.03 release notes.
(We are also putting together a one-stop "manual addendum" section so that users do not have to go through the release notes to see what has been added/changed.)
