I'm just about to get some Perspex sheets for laying over maps but not sure which thickness is best, either 2mm or 3mm.
What do you folks use, please?
my 2c: thicker is always better - more durable over the long hall, and with only 1mm difference, you won't lose any clarity looking through them
Yeah, one of the things that I was concerned about was that 3mm, whilst more rigid, would reduce clarity. My preference was to go 3mm.
I use 1/8" (3.175mm) and it works great. Much more robust than the thinner stuff. Clarity is great. And it's not so thick that you get a weird "counters floating" visual effect.
This is for that damn BoB isn't it? >:(
^Yup ;)
SE and GP
...is your resolve weakening?
No...... :(
you don't sound very convincing >:D
no..... :-\
lol - you might be able to pick up a cheap copy at origins.
FWIW...I just cut up some .5mm (.020 gauge) PETG plastic for a wargamer in the Dominican Republic (long story). Although it is a little bit thinner than the quoted examples, I think it will do well.
Thanks for the advice, chaps. I find I can get it in 2 or 3mm in A1, A2, A3 sizes on amazon. I think I will go 3mm, I now just have to work out the optimum size combination I need.
Looks like 2 each, A2 and A3 should do the trick for now.
Bart - there are some real big 8 and 9 map scenarios in GP that use maps and units from SE as well.
Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala can't hear you lalalalalalalalalalalalalaalala
I use cheap poster frames, it's thin but you can mount the map in them if you want so it doesn't move around. Might get something thicker but I've not had any problems so far.
The "cheap poster frames™" are great for games that require that you check LOS (ASL, etc). Anything much thicker and you have questionable accuracy on the LOS checks. Otherwise, I wouldn't see much of a difference between using 2mm vs 3mm.

My physical copy of GP arrives today. I'm going to throw it in my gear and bring it to Origins and rope you into playing... ;-)
Go get him, Panzerde :knuppel2:
Bob - you gotta drag 'Geek and JD with you to Origins next year. And Boggit.
Now that would really be something.
You heard the man, chaps. Start saving.
