(Gus in particular might enjoy this. :) )
Some of you are already aware of this, but I'm blessed by the fact that both my grandmothers are still alive -- the younger one (on my dad's side) is 90, while my maternal grandmother is 103. Anyway, I just found out that four years ago, my maternal grandmother did a video discussing her childhood growing up in southeastern rural Minnesota.

I don't know how, ah, "fascinating" it will be to those not from our family and/or from that area, but there's at least some tidbits about life during that time that I suspect folks here might find kind of interesting.
thats awesome
so is the guy your Dad, uncle?
Thanks! (Not that I can take credit for it. :P )
The man in the video is my Uncle Richard, my mom's brother. (My mom is the youngest of five siblings; Richard is the second-youngest.)
still watching it - man i could listen to her for ages, shes very engaging
O snap...must watch this later. Very cool Martok.

Yes, this. Everyone takes pictures but it's rare to have video, especially like this. Martok, you really are blessed to have both grandmothers still alive. Thanks for sharing. It is interesting to hear directly from people who have experienced so much in life. O0
Very cool. Love stuff like this (especially from that part of the country).
I just watched the whole thing straight through and the end of the video was like a splash of cold water- I was that engaged in what she had to say. Martok, thank you so much for sharing Rosalie's life with us.
You're welcome, guys. Glad you enjoyed it!
Even though I'd heard some of this stuff before (usually directly from my grandmother herself), I still learned a fair few things watching this video as well. For instance, I never realized til now that my Great Aunt Thelma was a Christmas baby. :D
But yeah, watching this was a very cool experience for me. I've always idolized my grandmother just a little bit, and have never ceased to be fascinated and/or amazed by her experiences.
I know there is a starfury joke hidden in the title of this thread, but I'll be good and keep my mouth shut...
I actually have nothing but the utmost respect for something like this.
once in a while we do achieve brief moments of maturity.
very brief. :P
Sharp as a tack, she is! That's outstanding, Martok. Thanks for sharing.
